I think not much Malaysia come to US through K1/CR1/IR1. Don't know why. I never meet any Malaysian in San Francisco and people always mistaken me as filipino. I miss good Malaysian food :hehe:

There aren't many Malaysians active on VJ, that's for sure! And I'm surprised there aren't any Malaysians in SF. I guess it's not nice to be mistaken as Filipina, huh? LOL. Yeah, Malaysian food rocks. I am enjoying everything here right now! ;)

December 2009 -- Visit to Malaysia.

February 2010 -- Applied for B2 visa, approved.

March 2010 -- Visited US.

April 2010 -- Returned from US.

May 2010 -- Sent in K1 Visa application.

July 2010 -- Received NOA2 in 71 days from NOA1.

July 2010 -- Packet 3 received.

August 2010 -- Cancellation of K1 Visa application.

You better enjoying as much as you can. The only Malaysian restaurant that the food is not that bad in San Jose which is an hour + drive from San Francisco and Paul is not the type who will drive an hour + for food  I'm cool with people mistaken me as filipino but it will be nice to be known as Malaysian :D

So in my packet 3, they asked my "sponsor/s" to fill out a "SPONSOR'S FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY UNDER THE SOCIAL SECURITY ACT" attachment to the Affidavit of Support. They also attached a hard copy of it but no soft copy.

They told me I could scan it and my fiance can fax it back to me and they would accept it.

Anyways, I have scanned the text in and matched the formatting to the original form which you can use if you like to send to your sponsor/s. ;-)

Hope it helps!

DS_1858.doc

Thanks for that document, I might fill it out and send it to my fiance for her interview, just in case. Good luck on your interview. Coincidently, my fiance's interview is scheduled on July 29th as well.

Also, for those of you who have been through the processed, how long does it usually take to obtain the letter of good conduct? My fiance submitted the application for that letter approximately 6-7 weeks ago and she still hasn't received it yet, we are starting to worry whether she will be able to receive before the interview? Is there anyway to expedite it? THanks

Hi, yeah it takes quite a few weeks for the Letter of Good Conduct but keep calling their office and ask them to hurry. I had to call quite a few times to get them to send me a replacement to correct an error they made.

I think the number that works is the 03-8887 4264 number. Speak to Pn. Umi.

here is what i sent the US embassy in Malaysia:

Greetings,

My fiance recently received he packet 3 in the mail and I wish to thank you for your prompt service in getting it to her so quickly. I do have one hopefully simple question that I have not been able to find an answer for. One of the forms that was included was a "Sponsor's Financial Responsibility under the Social Security Act", which I have learned is called Form DS-1858. I have been unable to locate a downloadable copy of this form on-line other than a poorly scanned copy. I am wondering if there is a way for me to locate a good copy anywhere here in the United States or if i need to have my fiance send it to me through the mail.

and here is their response:

Dear Alan,

Since you will be completing the Form I-134, please ignore the DS-1858. Thank you.

Regards,

IV Unit

Congrats! I can't wait for that phone call~

My fiancee has just gotten her P4 package, and in the checklist of "Additional Requirements", there were 2 fees. I understand the $350 is for the application, but is there really another $400 one?? I noticed this checklist isn't specifically for K visa applicants, so I'd figured that's for another visa type, am I right? Or does my fiancee need to bring $750 on interview day??

it is a great call to get, funny thing was she didn't want to call and wake me :bonk:

there was only the one fee the $350 that needed to be paid. the packet 4 seems to contain a lot of generic information that makes it very confusing, especially when you want and need everything to be perfect.

Dear VJers,

I just received a call from my fiance, our K1 visa has been approved!!! Thanks for all the help and support provided by this community, it certainly did help ease my work load and clear up and questions that I had. My fiance was asked 20-30 questions and the interviewer about commented on our age. He told her that it is an unusual case for them since my fiance is only 20 while I am only 21 years old. Nevertheless, we got it...So excited. Thanks again.

Sincerely,

Jeff
