If that's d case..I wonder how to proceed. Because me n my fiance already did our best. There is no way he can get the original because apparently the court hse wont give.

He also said he can get d certified copy only.

Yes maghue. .u need to bring along even though it does not state in our required listing. And actually it does not make sense that we should have d original decree bcoz it is not the alien doc. It is d petitioner doc.

I thought the validity is for one year? I have already applied for it actually, and it's now approved, I just haven't go and claim it as I don't know where exactly to get it from. Now I think I will get my birth certificate extract, renew my MyKad and take that police certificate. The validity date starts from the date you apply or when you collect it?

I collected it in Putrajaya Kota Kinabalu. There is only one Putrajaya in kk, situated in jalan UMS on left hand side before one Borneo hypermall. It's a big building with green roof. The foreign affairs office is in block A, 7th floor, contact number 088220018. You have to apply the certificate online and check the status online as well. Once it gets approve, bring the slip of the application (the slip should be printed after the application is submitted) to their office and pay RM20 and get the certificate at the same day. But don't apply it before your petition is approved because it has validity same with the medical examination. smile.png

Based on my interview at the US embassy KL in Aug, I was told the cert of good conduct is valid for ONE YEAR after the date stamped on it (told by embassy staff).

Medical exam results are valid for SIX MONTHS after the date it's carried out (told by panel doctor in Penang).

I've heard/read that some Putrajaya staff said the COC is good for 3 months, but based on my own experience, the embassy don't follow that.

Hi everyone, anyone of you know what it means by original divorce decree ?

What happened is the officer kept telling me that what we gave is wrong.

The divorce decree that my fiance was given by the Court house is a total of 30 page of documents where the last page is the only page has the stamp on it. The rest of the 29 pages is all the laws n regulations with no stamp nor signature, is purely printing of words. My fiance all ready have them a copy n I also brought the last page where it consist of the original stamp to the officer n he said is wrong. He said that everyone can get it right but not me n my fiance.

I also kept asking him show me a sample but he said my fiance should know. But my fiance keep saying that is the only copy he has.

Anyone here that been through can advise whether what does the officer mean by original divorce decree.

Thanks

I've read somewhere here about the original divorce decree. The interviewer didn't accept it and saying that it was not the original but luckily the American guy who was the petitioner was there accompanying his fiancee during the interview. So he would be able to argue with the interviewer since he was the one who got the certified original divorce decree. He said that if he requested another certified, he would get the same. finally it was accepted. So did you get denied because of that?

I'm so worry about that because I will need an original divorce decree from my fiance for the interview on 24 October.

HAH. same problem I had when I got the divorce decree from my husband's previous marriage. It didnt look official at all, and it was a little crumpled sleep.png So i kept pestering my husband to get the original one and he kept saying that IS the original one. When I went to the embassy, they asked to see it, and just took that one with no problem.

I'll take a pic and let you see what it looks like. It's just a few pages of paper with his name, ex's name and there's a big stamp on the right. Thats it. No big logo, emblem bla bla, unlike Malaysian ones, which are usually so decorative rofl.gif

I have the photocopy of the divorce decree that my fiance sent to me when he got fully divorced last year. I only got one paper, I've never asked if there are other papers. The big logo of court of common is on the left, I wonder if it's different than yours. Did they take the original or did they return it back to you? my fiance seems like doesn't want to give the original because he said he will probably need it for multiple reason in future.

That sucks. People here said that any legal documents that has been submitted on I-129, the embassy have the right to ask for the original. But they should accept the certified copy because the petitioner might need the original for other purpose and there is no way to ask for one more original decree from the court. It really doesn't make sense

Nice..!Good thing they're American staffs, probably it would take 10 weeks if they're Malaysians lol. I haven't gotten any new mail this week, so my appointment letter is not here yet. Luckily I've done my medical. The clinic in Kuching mail the result via DHL in Wednesday and got to me in Thursday. If only the embassy use post express instead of regular mail it would be more comfortable for the applicants who live far from kl and I would not mind to pay more as well.

well, i'd advice your fiance to go to the court and get a copy, because you're going to need the original at the interview. if he doesnt want to give the original, you guys are gonna get stuck at the interview part, because you're going to need to get another date and bring the original. From what I know the embassy is very strict about the required documents, and they dont care if you've already booked your tickets or anything like that and will just postpone your approval unless you have all the necessary documents.

I had the whole document, not just the one with the stamped part. How would they know that you have the original if you just bring a copy? And all original docs will be returned at the interview so don't worry about having to submit the original to them.

Honey, dont be so quick to sing praises about the American gov staff. If they're so efficient, then we'd all be done with this immigration process instead of having to wait for months on end. From my own experience, the Msian immigration dept is quite quick. You can get your passport within a few hours. Here, they take up to six weeks! Efficient ka macam tu?

It really depends on which office you go to. A friend of mine got hers after 2 weeks. Some others waited for months for it to come in the mail. Ikut nasib!

You can apply for them thru the courts where the divorce took place. Just call vital records office.

for example:

this one's for California

Well then I take back my word..lol, I think you're right that some gov dept are efficient but really it depends on luck.

Since they'll return all the original docs, there is no need to worry about submitting the original one. I'll talk to my fiance about that. Thank very much for the info

did you bring the whole document?

No I did not. I only bring the last page which consist the stamp n signature.

I was thinking the rest of the pages is the same because it was only printing of words. No signature or stamp.

I guess I should bring a total of 29 pages plus the last page of signature?
