Thanks magjue! Glad to see you've sent off your packet 3! You too bluecrab! =) Do remember to keep us updated - there aren't many Malaysians around on VJ and the consulate here doesn't seem very communicative

Awesome! Great to hear that you finally got the letter and that things are moving along.

I haven't gotten an interview date yet, as I just received my Packet 3 late last week. Now that my checklist is complete, I'm going to send it together with the Form DS-230 once I have that completed...probably in the next day or so. And then wait for a date smile.png

Hello bluecrab,

Do you mind letting me know how long it was for you to receive packet 3 after your petition papers reached the consulate? Thanks so much!

I haven't done my medical yet as I should wait for the panel physician that will come along with the appointment letter I believe. But I wonder if I can do it without the appointment letter since the list is available in the embassy web page..heheidea9dv.gif

you cab call/email and ask. The panel doc in Penang wouldn't do it without the letter so I had no choice but to wait. Luckily it didn't take that long to get the letter!

Hi Rusberri,

The NVC received the approved petition on Aug 5, and said it will be shipped out to KL within a week. I don't know specifically when the papers reached the embassy (I'm assuming sometime between Aug 12 and Aug 16), but the packet 3 cover letter was dated August 20. It was mailed out on August 21 and reached me on Aug 23 (I live in the Klang Valley).

Hope this helps!

By the way, will you be moving to Maryland?

Thanks JP and Tee. I did call the hospital in Kuching, Sarawak and yes they can do the medical examination without the appointment letter as long as I have the case number. So I scheduled my medical on 04 September 2013.They asked me to bring a photo, valid passport and the case number.biggrin.png

I received packet 3 today!

Just a quick question - there's this "Sponsor's Financial Responsibility Under the Social Security Act" that is supposed to be signed by the USC/petitioner - but no where on the form is there a 'signature' place - do I just get my fiance to sign at the bottom of the page and initial it? What did you guys do?

I got my green card in the mail, about 27 days after I arrived on Aug 7. No SSN yet, but getting that done this week. Was hoping it'd come in the nail so we've been putting off going to get it in person at the SSN office :P

Hello fellow Malaysians!

I am so glad I found this thread.

My fiance has just started filing for petition for me and we are applying a K1 visa for me. I am very anxious about this whole process! I would love to know how long is the waiting time from date of petition submission to when I will get my part at US embassy in KL?

Hi there, this is my first time posting on VJ!

My fiance and I are applying for the K1 visa and we just received our NOA2 for the I129F petition 2 days ago!! Looks like it's my turn to be prepping documents now =)

I looked at the list of documents that I need to prepare and was wondering if my birthcert and IC need to be translated by a 'recognized' translator in Malaysia? I read somewhere that you can get a certified translation from Institut Terjemahan & Buku Malaysia but they charge quite a bit just for a few words. Would it be possible to just get a friend who is willing to sign off on the translation for me?

Thanks!

When did you submit the petition?

Hi HannahJoe,

we submitted the petition 12 December 2012, took about 6 months before it was approved. But then our case was one of the cases that got transferred to the Texas Service Center from Vermont, so maybe that made it longer.

What's your service center?

Hi Rusberri,

Great to hear that it's arrived!

My fiancé and I had the same question. He signed and dated it at the bottom of the form, and he's also sending another copy without his signature. I wonder what the others did.

Hello VJ,

I done my medical examination yesterday, got my blood test and x-ray.So now waiting for the packet 4 ClockWatch2.gif . Guess it's better to have two copies of the sponsor's financial form, signed at the bottom for one copy and leave the other one without sign.I did the same
