First of all, you of all people should have been personally escorted into the Embassy by US Marines and given more personal service.

As to why non-americans are filling these interviewing posts, may be they couldn't get enough qualified Americans to work in Malaysia? <shrugs> Regardless, the Ambassador should be made aware of any poor service/ mistreatment of any Americans by any US Embassy/ consulate.

I have emailed this embassy before, and received responses that are ridiculous. (aparently written by a Taliban with poor command of the language).

Well, after a surprise that they wanted 2011 W-2's along with 2011 tax return receipts, my wife's visa was approved, and in time for her to return to the US with me. Guess I'll be reporting back on time after all

You know, I tried contacting the Ambassador once before. No response. I emailed him, sent him a message to his Twitter account, and to his Facebook page. Nothing. Guess he was to busy handing out checks to the save the Malaysian Tiger foundation...

As for the Embassy. I NEVER recieved the appointment package they supposedly mailed to us at our home, IN MALAYSIA... :bonk: One of the few times that the Consular responded to any of my emails was to send us a scanned copy of the letter they supposedly mailed so that we could get the medical exam done, and for entry for the actual appointment. I wonder what other documents were included in that IV 4 package... oh well.

They certainly need training for proper grammer and email etiquette in responses. It looked like a student emailing a friend.

Glad it's finally over though. I hope I never have to go inside the KL Embassy again for any visa issues...

Hey-hey congratulations !! I'm happy for you guys.

I understand that the postal service in Malaysia suck eggs. So the package might have gotten lost (May be even out of spite).

But in the end, you guys are on your way. Have a safe trip back to the states.

as for the ambassador, who knows what this person is busy doing....you think with all the slave labor he has over there, he could at least stroke you with a return email....

Congratulations! Really pleased for you and the missing immunisation wasnt a problem.

Why would they want your W2s? Shouldn't they already have them when you submitted them with your I-864? Besides your wife's passport, did they want any other original docs? They should already have the original marriage cert, birth cert, police certs but I'm now wondering if I need to get my husband to UPS his original W2s and 1040EZs to me for the interview. I only have scanned copies.

Did they ask for anything else besides your wife's passport at the interview?

Thanks!

When I applied for B2, I was honest and mentioned boyfriend. You should not lie to an immigration officer as it might have negative repercussions on your record for any future immigration benefit you seek. Some people have been banned as a result of lying to IO at the borders between Canada and US, so be careful.

Congradulations and safe journey to you. Dont forget to bring the stuff that cant be found here and bring along your copy of vaccination record for AOS later.

And dont open the secret envelope!

Hi All,

I'm new here and i hope im not hijacking anyone's thread or anythg of that sort :/ after months of searching i finally found this! a malaysian k1 visa thread! :)

i hope someone could help me out with my question? :)

my fiance and i have been in a r/ship since august 2011. he came to malaysia three times (may 2011, dec 2011 & dec 2012). In april 2012 i applied for a B2 visa with the intention of visiting my bf but on the form i filled out his sister's name as i was going to be staying with her in the US. During my interview i mentioned that i was going to visit a friend (his sister) and i did not mention that i wanted to see my bf, reason being i thought i had a better chance of approval. Well it turned out even though i own a house and gave them a lot of proof that i intend to return my B2 visa got rejected.

So after that, me and my fiance applied for our K-1 visa on 27/7/2012, we received an RFE on 12.2.2013 mainly because the lawyers doing our paperwork forgot to send in his biographic info, anyways we sent back all the requested docs on 22.2.2013 and hoping for a favourable response. Well i'm hoping that we get approved soon and on my end i'm preparing myself for all the certificates and paperwork i.e certificate of good conduct and such.

My question is, will the B2 visa rejection and the fact that i did not mention i have a bf in the US during my B2 VISA interview affect my K1 visa? i'm stressing out about this and i hope that somebody that has been through the same experience would share?

thanks a million! :)

I don't think it will affect your K-1. Just don't lie by omission anymore. It never does you any good.

Hello Malaysians!

So I (finally) have an interview date for a CR-1 spouse visa at the Kuala Lumpur embassy. Our Malaysia portal on Visajourney is very sparse and so I am wondering if anyone on here can provide their interview experience?

Also, are there any other Malaysians with scheduled interviews?

Thanks very much. I am nervous-excited! Miss my husband very much.

Yes, any input would be great. Reading all these sometimes can be nerve wrecking but most of the time it's comforting to know what others have been through and to be mentally prepared ourselves.

So you'll be going for the interview without the hubby huh? I read a number of cases where the beneficiary was accompanied by their spouses. I'm hoping we can arrange that he'll be here -just because of the wait on that day! It's because we have to come back for the actual interview after the morning appointment...(I know, I've been reading till my eyeballs pop -I am on two weeks break now but not really having a break but lots and lots of reading!)

I wish you luck and my thoughts and prayers for you, elle. YOU'RE ALMOST THERE!!

Hello All

I read this forum the moment when me and my fiance start to file for K1 visa back in May last year. And i only received my package last month and i do hope the process of this will not change much from those who had applied back in years.

There is no time limit as to when i need to get all the documents ready right? Because i do not see it stated in the letter.

I am now at stage 2 where it requires all the list of documentations. Would someone that been through that stage help to advise whether i understand correctly of what they required in the letter?

  1. Ensure my passport has at least 6 months of validity
  2. my birth cert ( need to be translated and must be certifiied true copies)
  3. Police certifcate ( photocopies need to be certified true copies)
  4. Photographs
  5. Evidence of support from my fiance
  6. evidence of relationship
  7. Fee

As for OF-167 , under the section " Applicants own funds" , i basically need to submit my bank statement only ? as i do not have property, stocks or bonds.

Now , the confusing part in the OF -167 , under the section of " Employment ". What i understand about this section is that it is only applicable for those who has an offer of prearranged employment from a company in US. This is where we need to ask for employment letter. If we do not have any employement offered by an US company, then we basically do not have to worry about this section.

We do not need to ask for employment letter from our current company in Malaysia , am i correct?

cheers

Are you already at NVC stage? I believe there is a time limit if you are at NVC stage, which is 1 year. If NVC doesn't receive any correspondence from you within 1 year, they will close your file. However please double-check this position with the K-1 forum as my case was a CR-1 (spouse) visa.

If you want K1-specific answers, it's better to ask on the general K1 forum as your questions are not Malaysia-specific. There are lots of people there who are filing K-1 who can help you.

Hi everyone - a quick question regarding those Malaysian Chinese who have filled out the I-129F and the G-325A.

Did you put your name in Chinese characters on the I-129F question 16 where it asks about name and address in native alphabet? We are living in Australia so the address will only be in Roman alphabet.

On the G-325A did you also write name in Chinese near the bottom of the last page?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help!

Hi there, this is my first time posting on VJ!

My fiance and I are applying for the K1 visa and we just received our NOA2 for the I129F petition 2 days ago!! Looks like it's my turn to be prepping documents now =)

I looked at the list of documents that I need to prepare and was wondering if my birthcert and IC need to be translated by a 'recognized' translator in Malaysia? I read somewhere that you can get a certified translation from Institut Terjemahan & Buku Malaysia but they charge quite a bit just for a few words. Would it be possible to just get a friend who is willing to sign off on the translation for me?

Thanks!

HI everyone,

Would like to share our experience, hopefully it'll be useful to others in the same predicament.

We requested an expedite after sending AOS packet and our request was granted and the file was sent to the US Embassy in KL on Friday. I tracked it on DHL using a tip shared by a VJ member and it was received by an embassy staff on Tuesday, July 2 2013.

At the same time, my husband sent an email to the embassy asking what we should do next. They replied and said they haven't received our file yet and to wait for further instructions.

I then contacted the panel clinic in Penang and asked if I could arrange for a medical exam. The doctor said they wouldn't do it unless I have an interview date and the letter as well and that it would take 4 days to have the results. I find that emailing get better results as my phone calls went unanswered. The doctor is rather nice, answered my emails and said I could arrange for an appointment as soon as I get my interview letter since they normally won't do one since the med exam results are only valid for 6 months.

On July 3, I emailed the embassy and asked for an expedite, since I'm hoping to get everything settled by the end of July so I can fly still. I also asked for an electronic copy of the interview letter as I've read that some people never got the interview letter when it was sent out in the mail, so I requested for it to be sent both via email and normal post.

We didn't hear anything as July 4th was a day off, but on July 5th, I received an email from the US Embassy KL with:

We have received your file but there is information or forms to confirm on completion of documents. Please confirm as mentioned in the attachment. Please provide your phone number too.

They sent me a checklist and asked me to send that as well as the Form DS230 WITHOUT ANY PHOTOCOPIES/ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS. So I filled up the forms and ticked all the boxes indicating we already have all the necessary documents, then rushed to the post office to mail them using fastest mail service available! I emailed the Embassy back, informing that I'd mailed them out and provided my phone number as well.

Around 430pm July 5 2013, I received a phone call from a lady working at the Consular Section, asking me if I have all the documents needed for the interview. I told her I have:

- birth cert (petitioner and beneficiary)

- marriage cert

- passport bio page

- police cert from Australia & Cert of Good Conduct from Malaysia

- husband's divorce decree

- evidence of support

She asked when i got my police certs and I said the Aussie one in Aug 2012, and Malaysian one in Sept 2012. She said that should be fine as they're valid for a year. I was told by another VJer (who got the info from the Min Of Foreign Affairs staff) that the Msian COGC is only valid for 3 months, which made me worried coz it took 2 months to get it!

Since I haven't had my med exam, getting a date next week is kind of pushing it. A friend suggested I do the interview first and send the med exam results later, but some of the documents are still with my husband and he's mailing it to me tomorrow so we're more comfortable with waiting for a later date. The lady told me she'd send me the interview letter once she receives my letter so I could get my med exam done.

She then asked what date I'd like for my interview and I said any date in July would be great since I'm planning to leave by the end of July (hopefully no complications!). She said they have no availability and that Aug 1st would be the best date, which is fine with me! Sure, I'd love to get a July date but it's definitely better than September!

So now, the only thing I need to do now is the medical exam then the interview. Some members suggested getting the vaccinations done before while you're waiting for your interview letter (and I was contemplating that as well), but later on glad I didn't as I found out I didn't need to do them all before my POE. I was also told by the panel doctor I wouldn't need to get any vaccinations since I'm pregnant. Some of them can be done in the US once you've arrived so I think that's what we're going to do (especially after the doctor confirmed and said I needn't any except the tetanus shot I got at the prenatal clinic a couple weeks ago). Please contact the doctor you're going to and ask before you go for vaccinations elswhe

So there you have it.

Thank you everyone at VJ for sharing your experiences. I hope my lengthy explanation has helped some!
