US citizens do not need a visa to enter Malaysia. Unfortunately, yes, Malaysian is not part of the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP) so we need a B2 to visit US.

Great news on the NOA1, good luck for NOA2 Bsze!

Our interview date is 29 October. October is a magical month for us. Our 5th year anniversary, my birthday and interview date all in one month wow.

We're not sure at this point if he can come down. We made plans for him to come but life handed us some unexpected twists and turns. His ex-company owes him back wages, which is illegal for them to do. If they pay him what they owed him for July 2009, he might be able to. If not, oh well. We're thinking of joining a class action law suit against them for illegally withholding wages along with 100 over ex-employees. It won't give us money in time for the interview if we do, but at least we'll get it at some point in life.

It went well!!

As an update, I have just submitted a new embassy review on Kuala Lumpur US embassy and my interview experience.

I wish more people going through it had submitted something as it would have been helpful. So hopefully those after, will give back to the site in their time of happiness.

no leh - curry laksa with cockerels (singapore style ) dats da bomb...

but ya, yer right - penang laksa best for pregnant women ;) i remember !!!

FWIW, you can carry as much packaged spice as you need, in checked luggage...

I was suggesting curry laksa as a 'celebratory meal' - beats the heck outta KTV at 3 in the morning ;)

If you are coffee person, or like kopi-o, it's not imported into the USA :( I miss it, as much as laksa.

I keep getting this question asked from me, so for the Letter of Good Conduct, it usually takes a MONTH or so to process. Make sure you include a note in the package sent to Foreign Affairs that it is for the US embassy. They will know which one is needed. The letter of conduct is valid for 1 year for the embassy. I sent for mine after NOA1 and it was still valid for the interview 5 months later.

------------------------------

PACKET 3 includes:

THE checklist

Details on where to download the forms needed

A supplementary form which needs to be signed by the sponsor (and/or co-sponsor)

When you send back packet 3:

The checklist (signed and dated)

Form DS-230 Part I

Copy of your passport biographic page

------------------------------

PACKET 4 contains:

Appointment letter with interview date

List of panel physicians

4 forms for the physician to fill up

Medical instructions

Form DS 230 Part II

A supplementary form asking for countries visited in the last 10 years

When you go to the embassy bring along:

-Appointment letter

-Old and new passports

-2 US passport size photos

-DS 230 Part II (DO NOT SIGN)

-DS 156 x 2 (DO NOT SIGN)

-DS 156K (DO NOT SIGN)

-I-134 affidavit of support for sponsor and/or co-sponsor

-I-134 supporting documents in duplicate (2008 tax return, 2008 W2, latest pay stubs, letter from employer) for sponsor and/or co-sponsor

-Copy of birth cert and passport for any co-sponsors

-Supplementary form for I-134 (I call it food stamp form)

-Original beneficiary birth cert and copy with translation

-Copy of petitioner birth cert and passport

-Updated letter of intent from petitioner

-Original letter of good conduct

-Sealed medical envelope

-Copy of NOA2

-Evidence of relationship

-USD 131

PS:

1. Male beneficiaries have an additional form to fill up in duplicate, I think it is DS-157

2. Bring along a US passport photo for the medical, your passport, medical forms, you immunization list (if you have one) and the appointment letter

3. There is no need to bring the x-ray to the interview if you are not class A or class B for the medical (Class A and B have some problems that may need to be addressed before the visa is issued)

4. They only required one year tax return (latest) for I-134 from me

5. A Malaysian got asked for the petitioners original birth cert (if you an get it for the interview, bring it)

6. Do not bring photos in a photo album. It will not fit through the counter window

7. Birth certificate can ONLY be translated at a court or by a legal firm (lawyer). You CANNOT self translate it

Hi all... I feel so good and happy to finally found the Malaysian VJ thread here.. congratulation to all of you that finally have your happily ever after.. Well, i really need all of you help here.. the USCIS website is driving me crazy and im totally lost...

My boyfriend (American citizen) and i (Malaysian) got to know from each other through a dating website and since then we are very much in love with each other. After 18 months of talking to each other via phone calls, emails and messenger chats, we decided that i would make a trip to New York for holiday and to get to know each other more. I am on 6 months holiday now in NY, USA and my tourist visa will expire on 15 March 2010. We do not have any intention to get married at first hence, we did not apply for K-1 Visa.

Recently he proposed to me and we decided to get marry in NY. We tried reading through USCIS's website for more information but Mr. headache is visiting us pretty frequent and we got pretty confuse.

I really need help from the members here.

1) Can we get marry in NYC while im on tourist visa?

2) If yes, what kind of documents do i need to provide the NY city hall for registration of marriage?

3) After marriage, we plan to apply for Adjustment of Status. Can we do this and while i continue stay in USA under tourist visa? Flying back to Malaysia and wait there is not an option as we do not want to be separate again from each other.

Please help and thank you in advance

Congrats Farah! Saw that you got your own NOA2! :)

Good to know that there are fellow Malaysians going through this looooong process.

Hi Farah!

Thank you very much for starting this thread! I am very new to this website sooo I am glad to find you here! My fiance and I are applying for K1 Visa. I have a few questions, how you can help us with this.

1) Can you explain the steps to get K1 Visa and how long it'll take to get the visa?

2) Can you also email us the template of how to assemble the K1 package? my email address is suegee.cheng@hotmail.com

3) I heard that it'll take a year to get the K1 visa, is there any other visa I can get just to see him?

Thanks.

Hi.. first of all, Congratulation.. I hope this is not too late.. i can only help question 3...

You can take B2 tourist visa. Some still said is hard to get but other said otherwise..

When i went through the process of getting B2 visa. It was not that difficult if the form is filed correctly and speaking good english is a plus too. But the interviewer tend to trick you with some tricky question. So you got to be very alert listening to his question.

If we want to obtain B2 visa, it is advisable not to mention we want to come to USA to visit our fiance or boyfriend. Stick it purely for holiday purpose and visiting friends. They tend to reject us when our purpose is to visit out bf/fiance.

Get all the supporting documents ready.. but dont immediately show to the interviewer. show only when they ask about it. When i was there, it only took me less then 5 minutes to get my B2 visa approved but some girls got rejected because i heard her saying her purpose is to visit her bf in USA.

Let me know if you need any information of B2 visa.

Thanks

Marrying while under a tourist visa is a big no-no. It will be seen as immigration fraud because the tourist visa is NOT an immigration visa.

Wait, my bad, if you entered without the intention of marriage then you're good to go.

I should be paying attention when I read.

Congratulations on your engagement!

So you're in NY now? Yes, you can get married on a tourist visa. You may want to check with the court house what you need to apply for a marriage license. Some states require SSN and some don't . I got married in Michigan and all I provided was passport and birth certificate with translation. To your last question, yes, you are able to stay in the USA with your visa while doing your AOS. Once you have submitted your AOS, your immigration status is considered pending so no worries.

Good luck and feel free to ask any questions!

Cheers!

Hi guys,

I'm in US now and got my SS card a few days ago. Now just gonna get ready for the wedding.

Anyway, just posting to encourage other fellow Malaysians to include a link to this thread on their signature so other Malaysians have easier access to it since I don't post as regularly anymore.

Good luck to those about to have their interview, feel free to share anything that would help others here.
