Hi, I would like to know if it's ok to change my name when I file the N-400 that is based on 3 years marriage tu a citizen. Currently Im using my married name only but I would like to add my maiden name so I could use both so its not much of a change but to add my maiden name. My question is if this could delay the process since I read that they are not able to change my name instead they give 2 options change it before (which I have no idea where to start) and the 2nd option:

2. If you are going to take the Oath of Allegiance at a Naturalization Ceremony that

is held in Court, you may ask the Court to change your name. If the Court grants your

request, your new name will appear on your Certificate of Naturalization.

What should I do? please help!!

Wife did the opposite, dropped her maiden name with the N-400, no court order was required, same with SS. Too confusing with the computerized systems we use today and even more confusing for Americans. Would think twice about adding it.

Now in our phone directory, her name is listed directly above mine, so if I want to call her, it's easy for me to find her number.
