The Sonoma County Pride Parade Returns

This year's week of Sonoma County Pride events kicks off with a Parade along Main Street in downtown Guerneville on Sunday, May 31st starting at High Noon, through downtown Guerneville.

The Sonoma County Pride Planning Committee is excited to be bringing this annual event to Guerneville, at the heart of the Russian River, the site of so much of Sonoma County's LGBTQ community history. The Parade will be followed by a Celebration on the grounds of Dawn Ranch Lodge - formerly Fifes - in Guerneville, with music, dancing, food, wine, beer, and a children's area set aside for families and kids!

Sonoma County Pride is a week long celebration of the joy and diversity of our community for Sonoma County's LGBTQ Community, Friends and Family. The Main Events of the week include the Parade, the Celebration, and an Interfaith Service the following Sunday.

There are additional partner events planned throughout the week, including the 15th annual Sonoma County Pride Comedy Night at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, and Disco Down the River Weekend, a fund raising event for Under One Roof, supporting AIDS/HIV service agencies throughout the Bay Area, including Face to Face, Food for Thought and the Sonoma County AIDS Emergency Fund.

Get your favorite pair of walking shoes / boots / heels / rollerskates or anything else you can think of and come join the fun! Whether you want to come and march with us, or gather along the parade route and cheer the marchers on, come on out early to the Russian River, pick up coffee and a danish or grab some breakfast, then get ready for fun!

The parade starts at High Noon on Main Street in Guerneville, and runs from Armstrong Woods Road to Brookside lane - we're keeping it short so we can pack in the fun, and to make it easy for anyone who wants to join the parade to take part!

The SCPPC welcomes contingents of all shapes and sizes, as long as you're coming to help celebrate and add to the fun of the day -- OUR DAY -- with Joy and Pride! So put together a float, or just gather your group's members and stitch together a some costumes and come join the parade!

Please join together to celebrate our wonderful corner of California and the wide diversity of people who make up the LGBTQ community in Sonoma County.

The Sonoma County Pride Planning Committee [sCPPC] is a 100% volunteer group that meets throughout the year to plan and raise funds for the annual LGBTQ Pride celebration in Sonoma County. The committee strives to be both inclusive and representative of the diversity of the LGBTQ communities throughout Sonoma County.

Anyone who is interested in serving on the committee, is able to make a committment to attend regular meetings of the committee, and is willing to work in a cooperative and mutually respectful manner with the other members of the committee is welcome to join the SCPPC.

Are you excited?

Damn straight! Paaaarrrrty!

The wife is used to bakla back home, they are common enough in Sampoloc and the universities nearby. I don't know what part of the R.P. Jinky comes from, but I might just take the wife to watch the festivities. I wonder what she will think.

bakla? I'll have to ask her. You can tell your wife that Jinky's family is originally from Camigan (sp), but she grew up in Cebu.
