Should I file for AP or not?

Question: let's say I am filing for AOS at the beginning of July 2009, and I don't plan to travel outside US until May 2010. Should I still file for AP, or it is useless, as I will get my temporary GC in the meantime ? Afterall, I would be saving some bucks...

You might not have any plans to travel before May 2010, but what about the unexpected? It's always safer to file for AP whether you use it or not. You're not losing anything as it's free to file as long as you file it with your AOS. By the way, the EAD filing is also free as long as it's filed with AOS.

Yes I agree, it doesn't cost anything to file EAD and AP at the time of AOS. If there was an emergency, you'll be glad you have it. Also I think that if the paperwork is already in the office, and you found you needed to go home before you received it, I think you may be able to contact them and they could speed things up, again, at no extra cost.

So then, I will definitely go for AP as well as the others.

The only cost is for the extra passport pictures. The price of the AP and EAD were added into the AOS $1010 price increase in 2007. So you are actually paying for the EAD and AP even if you do not apply for them.
