If you have had a visit to the US of 5-6 months, what kinds of questions do they tend to ask at the interview regarding that stay?

I had a visit of 5 months, with an overnight trip to Canada during that time, so I was wondering if they ask you about your conversation with the BP officer, or if you need to bring anything for evidence of returning when you said, or financial records showing that you could afford the visit for that time frame.

Thanks, as I am currently awaiting packet 4 with my interview date, I am just wanting to prepare as much as I can.

There wouldn't really be a reason for them to ask about it, you didn't break any laws, or even any rules - a 5 or 6 month visit is ok. I wouldn't worry about it at all. :)

I was asked. The interviewer looked at the list of trips I provided and said, "did any of these stays last 5 or 6 months?" I said no and the conversation was done. She really had no reason to ask, as I provided a list and wrote on it that my longest stay was 14 days but she asked anyways... I would be prepared to answer the question. However, as Trailmix said, you didn't do anything wrong, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Not to hijack this thread but I also have a question about that. When it comes to vacation stays in the U.S. I have never stayed more than 3 months.

However I did lives there between the ages of 3-9 and then again from 15-18 and then again from 21-23.

I was on L-2 visas and then on F-1 visa for University.

Does this all go on the same page when filling out packet 3 or are there seperate areas for the last 10 vacations or whatever and then another area for possibly having lived there?

Thanks.

Domegirl - Yes, when they ask "Where have you lived" you definitely should put the dates you lived there when you were younger, as well as when you went to school. I did the same thing, put when I went to school, F-1 visa, 2003-2007 and where it was. Then I also put that I used my OPT for a year and put that down too. But for sure write down when you were younger and lived there! Leave no room for "question" as we all say! :)

tbaygrrl - In my interview (it was a CR1) my interviewer asked me "Have you ever had problems crossing the border?" Probably just to throw it out there and see if there ever was a problem, that would open up doors for other questions, but I never had. If there was no problem during your stay of 5 months, I don't see why it would be a problem. No worries, you'll be fine! :)

I stayed for 5 months the winter before my interview. If I recall, I think she asked me how I managed to have that much time off work and how I paid for it. I said I'd just been laid off from my job where I had worked 13 years, deserved a break, and got a rather handsome severance package. That was the end of that.
