The supervisor has been in the US for 14 years and now finds the flag offensive???

He/she must have seen/passed by 5,483,985 different flags by now....

Conditional Permanent Resident since September 20, 2006

If you read the article it says that the supervisor wasn't the only person who complained.

Seriously - this whole story is pandering to the simpering sensibilities of a woman who doesn't think displaying a 3' x 5' flag on a wall in an office is rather OTT.

Its a professional workplace - you don't have some constitutionally enshrined right to display whatever you like in your workspace.

let's not confuse the situation. the immigrant and the woman who displayed the flag are both supervisors, peers at the same level, working different shifts in the same office.

we don't have the back story on this. we don't know if the immigrant was white or black or semitic north african. we don't know if the immigrant had placed polarising objects in the shared space in the past. we don't know if the immigrant had made disparaging remarks to the native born, or vice versa. we don't even know what ethnicity the native born is. we don't know anything about the other persons who had complained about the flag (could be the hospital has a large number of immigrant workers and that they have a clique).

in any case, there are reasonable limits on what may and should be displayed in a shared workspace.

no way, dude.

freedom of expression reigns.

if i were her, i'd start wearing clothes that only depicted the stars & stripes. in fact, maybe i'd just drape myself in the flag and that's it... or maybe i'd wear my American flag bikini & daisy dukes.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
