Hello Everyone!

This past Sunday I got engaged to a sweet, kind man from Afghanistan. I went back to school for a career change in social work. I wasn't expecting to meet anyone and I even had the mindframe that I wasn't going to date, I was just going to concentrate on study! Well, I attended a Ramadan event in September and there he was! So handsome, charming and extremely funny. I ended up driving him to a mutual friends house and we talked and really hit it off. We discovered that we had a lot of core values in common. By early October we were inseparable. I've never found somebody who is so kind, intelligent and caring. I can't imagine myself with anyone else. When he proposed this past Sunday, I was in shock! I was also extremely happy.

So, we're new to this immigration tango. We'll be finished with our degrees in Spring 2010. We don't know where to start. I found this site through another online community.

I look forward to talking with all of you!:)

"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.

Congrats on the engagement. Welcome to VJ. I hope your immi process is quick and painless :)

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
