NVC Documents - Need Confirmation!!

When people mention 'cover letter' here they don't mean the barcoded sheet.

Some people, not all, type up a sheet of documents, like:

- I-864 form

- 6 Months of Bank Statements from TD Canada Trust

- 12 Payslips from current employer

- letter from current employer

- partridge in a pear tree

We never bothered with an extra cover letter with any of our applications. It has never been a problem, in fact our interviewing officer told us at the AOS interview that the cover letters get taken out when the packet is first checked after it has arrived in the mailroom and it is destroyed.

I couldn't find a small enough bag I did put photos in ziplock bag and attached that ziplock bag to the package with binder clip.

Hey eklondon!

Interesting that NVC says only to do the Case # on the back of the passport photos? Good to know though. If anything, from what I've read around VJ, put the pictures in a ziploc bag, and staple the bag to a plain white piece of paper. On that paper write the name, case #, etc. That way the paper won't get lost in transition....

Still definitely do a cover letter! They give you a cover sheet (yes, that goes on top of EVERYTHING), but underneath that I put a cover letter just basically documenting everything inside of that package. That way they know everything is there, and where it is. Just something VJ members said to do.

Nice to see some familiar faces here from the CR1 forum

I would like to ask for your opinion.

I just mailed my ITIN application and my tax return to IRS couple of days ago. I am very anxious to send my AOS packet to NVC, too.

I was thinking of including photocopies of everything I sent to IRS (W-7, 1040 return, W2, certified passport copy of husband's,..) and I was going to make a copy of the express mail receipt with the tracking number, and then do an online printout that shows the delivery status of that tracking number as "delivered to IRS address xyz".

Do you think this is OK, since I don't really want to wait until ITIN is approved before I send AOS, because it can take 6-8 weeks for ITIN to be assigned.

What are your thoughts, should I send AOS now with the "evidence" above? I would appreciate response from those of you who have also gone through the ITIN process...

As per NVC taxes need to be filed. Your taxes will not start to be filed until after the ITIN is generated. ITIN takes 6-8 weeks then taxes take 6-8 weeks. I have requested an extension for my taxes for 2006,2007, and 2008. Once I get some documentation from IRS showing the extension. I will send that with my AOS package.

I will be sending

- I-864 form (question 25 will be left blank)

- 6 months Payslips from current employer

- letter from current employer

- Copy of W2 for 2008

- Copy of IRS letter showing extension on my taxes for the last 3 years
