Hey everyone,

I've seen on the government visa website that some consulates require us to fill out the new form DS-160. This takes the place of DS-156 that we have to send for Packet 3. Just wondering if anyone has done this yet. Is it supposed to be faster? Anyone know? Thanks.

Thanks,

Tina

I filled this out for my interview. I'm not sure what you mean by faster. If you mean, will this get you an interview faster, nope! They also still require the DS156 at the interview (which they will explain in Packet 4).

It took me about an hour to fill out and really isn't that hard to do. I timed out a few times, so that is what took me long to finished, so make sure you save as you go like it suggests!!

I see. So DS-160 is the form you send the consulate before the interview and you would also bring DS-156 to the interview? Thanks.

You physically send them DS230 Part 1 and the checklist in the mail. You can complete the DS160 online at your leisure, as long as you do it before your interview and you print a confirmation page that you completed the DS160 to your interview.

Hope that helps!

I started a topic on this subject (sorry, I only checked the first few pages for this topic...oops!) I had a heck of a time with this form...it wasn`t the timing out that was the problem, it was the server errors and the form freezing. I am on dial up, so that may have been part of the problem. Saving it as I go was my only salvation...it took 2 hours 45 mins, but I got it done!

The woods are lovely, dark and deep; But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep...

Most likely it was the dial-up. I found it pretty slow on high speed actually.
