How many times does my fiance have to see the certified physician? She has to travel to another city for the doctor.

She lives in Brazil. Will it matter if she cannot speak English yet?

1. Usually once.

2. Doesn't matter.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

1) typically the visa medical is a single visit.. not sure how long the wait is to get the results... may or may not be same day

2) depends... how do you communicate? Brazil has been known to be a bit more difficult on this subject that other consulates.

2. Doesn't matter.

be careful... RDJ is reportedly an outlier

YMMV

Call the dotor to find out. We had to make two trips to the doctor. First for my husband to have the medical exam and get the bloodwork and xray done. The second time to pick up the results. What took the most time was waiting for the bloodwork to be done. The doctor my husband went to would not send the final report through the mail, so I had to go back and pick them up for him. This was in Belo Horizonte.

I took it he meant does it matter if she cannot speak English when she goes to the medical - which in context to the OP's question, is the way I answered.

Actually I meant at the interview and if it has an a=effect on her receiving the visa.

Ah - that is different - as payxibka mentions, that paticular embassy is strict on stuff.

Can you speak spanish? (I take it that is what is spoken in Brazil?)

I speak Portuguese and Spanish. My Portuguese is passable enough for me to communicate with my fiance and her family and friends. It is not good enough for technical issues or issues of enough importance to get it exactly right. My question is will they be able to interview her in Portuguese as she will not be able to do it in English?

They will conduct the interview in Portuguese or English... RDJ has been known to question the reality of the relationship if the alien and petitioner cannot communicate... she will need to understand this and be prepared to answer questions about this

T

hat should not be a problem. She and I have a strong relationship and communicate via video conferencing and telephone a couple of times a week. She should be able to answer that with confidence. I also have the phone bills to prove it. I also have screen shots of us video conferencing and lots of photos, iteneraries, etc. I have proof of visiting her in Brazil 4 times in the past year.
