Selective Service Question.

Need some clarification here about Selective Service Registration.

When I came to US as Non-immigrant first time I was 27 years and 200 days old so I should not be bothered to get a status letter from Selective Service.

As N-400 form says ;

( Are you a male who lived in the United States at any time between your 18th and 26th birthdays in any status except as a lawful nonimmigrant? If you answered "NO," go on to question 34.)

Do I still need a Status letter from Selective Service?

Thanks

Aqu

since you came to the US age 27 - you do not meet the requirements of that question (18-26).

So - you will not need a letter.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Ditto, recall when my wife and daughter first received their conditional green cards, they were all excited and left the envelops they came in on the counter. Also in the envelop was a sales like brochure that gave explicit instructions, like if over 18 years of age, your have to carry your green card with you wherever you go. Registering for selective service was another if a male between the ages of 18 and 26. Was a couple of more important things to do, now I can't remember them, but do recall where I filed that brochure. Filing for the N-400 is not the time to ask this question, but fortunately, you are over 26 years of age.

"Rules!"
