nope my approval letter states 30 days! and I did not take it personal but it seemed like other people on here (incl me) were a little shocked that you were raining on our parade here a little and basically making ppl feel put down about what they were writing. I do agree that calling congress men might be a little too much but we all have our reasons for wanting our cards asap. I always patient about things most ppl get into a hissy fit about (standing in line at the grocery store etc) but for personal/consular reasons i need the card asap. EDIT: just the stamp is not enough

I kinda agree with MDResident. People are too much in a hurry. The real battle for approval has been fought and won, and just a little more patience

to receive their card, they are complaining. God forbid if their petition were denied. I made an INFOPASS for tomorrow in NYC to have my passport stamped.

What I do not understand is why you guys/gals are making a big deal about some plastic, you got your approval letters, you have the option of having your passports stamped for 1 year (Same as GC), these people are renovating/upgrading their facilities, how do you expect them to work if everyone keeps calling them everyday to inquire about something redundant? and come on now someone actually mentioned calling the congressman about this? Do you think they do not have more important stuff to do than worry about you not getting your cards within 30 days? I would not dare bother the USCIS or my congressman over this, I got my approval and that'all that matters to me, I made an infopass app. just to get my passport stamped in case I need to travel on an emer. Lighten up people!!!!

This is a perfect case of it's NOT WHAT you SAY...BUT HOW YOU SAY IT!!!!!

Point well taken but damn you didn't even cut on corner.

I agree with KKHoliday 100%. Furthermore, I do not think that, with the exception of a couple of people, anyone on this forum called USCIS or called his/her congressman about the issue.

I think this forum provides a vent for all of us to get our frustration out and asses progress in our cases compared to other applicants - i.e. WIHTOUT calling USCIS. For most of us this forum encourages all of us to keep hoping for the better.

Different people have different needs. To judge someone else needs through the perspective of your own is selfish.

I need the stamp or the card to get a state ID, a driving license that is not expiring in 6 months, to remove the restriction on the SSN and to get a better job (cause I would appear more reliable than with the 1 year valid EAD at a first interview). I have an MBA with a concentration in Finance, so imagine how EASY it is for me to get a job for my qualifications (given the labor market is saturated with finance background people, and unemployment is rising).

The website says that there are 8 weeks delays in getting the green card.

I got my approval May 27 and still waiting on the card. The wait doesn't bother me too much, I'm just glad I got approved.

If you need the proof of approval it says you can make an infopass appointment with the letter and they will stamp it.

Permanent Resident Card Production Delays

USCIS is announcing that applicants may experience up to an eight week delay in the delivery of their permanent resident card while we are in the process of upgrading our card production equipment. USCIS Field Offices will be issuing temporary evidence of permanent residence in the form of an I-551 stamp to applicants approved for permanent residence at the time of their interview. You will need to take your passport to your appointment. If you do not have a passport, you must bring a passport style photo and government issued photo identification to receive temporary evidence of permanent residence.

If the application is approved subsequent to your interview or by a Service Center or the National Benefit Center, the applicant should bring the above documents to an INFOPASS appointment to be issued temporary evidence of permanent residence in the form of an I-551 stamp.

Yeah you guys are ridiculous. Can you tell us what your card is gonna do for you that the stamp can't do? I am really surprised. Good job on waiting in line at the grocery store by the way!

Went yesterday 6/3/09 and received the I-155 stamp. The fastest thing I have ever done with USCIS in New York City. We were out in 20 minutes.
