Hi,

I posted before that I think my check might be returned to me as i wrote it wrong. It has not been cashed yet, so Im a little worried. I mailed it monday, so I think it got there either tuesday or wednesday. I got the receipt confirmation on thursday.

I know monday was a holiday, so how many days should I wait before concluding that my check is going to be returned to me? So mad at myself!

Hi remconds,

Sorry to hear about your situation.

Clearing of check depends how busy the service center is. It take normally take 3-5 business days or may be 2-3 weeks.

Also Always be careful when dealing with government especially with Immigration and IRS. A little mistakes with these can cost a lot.

Here are I-751 instructions. You should have read them carefully. Read them again when you are about to resend your application to make sure everything is correct.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-751instr.pdf

Can you please tell us what did you do wrong with the check, so that we can assess your situation better.

I hope you do have plenty of time to refile the application. In case they do send you back the application and checks.

Please check the documents again and make sure the coverletter is in there as well, if you didn't send cover letter before, write one detailing each document in the order of bullets/numbers in the cover letter.

I would also advice you to use USPS money order and make it to:

U.S. Department of Homeland Security

In the from seciton, write your name and address and that's it.

Also send the application to the right center

If you live in Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, or Wyoming, mail your petition to the California Service Center:

USCIS California Service Center P.O. Box 10751 Laguna Niguel, CA 92607-1075

Good Luck

If you live in Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Washington, D.C., Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, U.S. Virgin Islands, or West Virginia, mail your petition to the Vermont Service Center:

USCIS Vermont Service Center 75 Lower Welden St. P.O. Box 200 St. Albans, VT 05479-0001

Hi, thanks for the advice.

I didnt put the 00/100 at the end of the written amount on the check. Someone else mentioned this week that they had their check returned for this same reason, and thats why I think mine might be too.

If the amount, your info and if it was made out to US Department of Homeland Security, then you should worry about 00/100. I used money order and put the total of application + biometric fee and didn't put 00/100 and my application wasn't returned. So I think you

should be ok if you didn't put 00/100 on the check which is not a big deal IMHO.
