sorry you misunderstood this but im in the usa im the one doing the petition not her. and im wanting to make sure i do all this right .and as far as what stage im at .well im trying to get all paper work together and filled out to send in.

There are several steps spanning several years between the time you get engaged and the time she is holding a US passport in her name. If you are just starting out, check out http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1guide

Ok, you are preparing the petition. I don't want to try and give you alist of things by memory, I would forget something and you would be really mad at me. Read the guides above. It is not so difficult. But there are lots of things that may or may not apply to your case so I could not possibly give a complete list, SOME items from that list (be sure to read the guides and instructions)...

1. I-129f form signed by you

2. G-325a forms from both signed by both

3. Fiancee letter of intent from both, signed by both, excellent examples here on this site.

4. Copies of divorce certificates (if applicable) hers translated to English if necessary

5. Copy of your birth certificate or naturalization papers, as applies. Basically, proof you are a citizen

6. Evidence you have met in person within the last two years at least one time, passport stamps, photos, boarding passes, etc.

7. Passport photo of both of you

Check the other requirements and see if any of them apply to you. Regular copies are OK, except the I-129f, G-325a and letters of intent need to be original signatures. Everything must be in English or attach a translation if it is not.

Make a copy of everything, never send anything without making a copy. Never send original documents (except those noted above). Never send without some sort of tracking and delivery confirmation. Certified mail works good and is cheap. Use a persoanl check for payment, you can track it easily. Do not leave blanks in the I-129f or G-325a. Answer every question. If the answer is "none" then write "none" Leaving blanks will get you an RFE and delay. Always use the names exactly as on your passport. If the passport does not list a middle name, then write "none" or "no middle name" on the forms. Always use the same names on every form you will ever fill out in this process. It should match the passport. If the passport does not list a middle name and you have one, then put this in the "other names used" where asked.

Interpret the forms literally, there are no trick questions. If it asks "Have you ever been convicted of homicide" and the answer is "NO", then answer "NO". Do not answer "NO, but I was convicted of shoplifting a candy bar when I was 13" They do not care.

It is NOT required to send "evidence of ongoing relationship" with the petition, that is for the interview. You CAN send it if you want, it will hurt nothing, but you do not have to.

Again, read the guides and forums Good luck

This is a formality, in standard business format. A business letter usually begins with a detailed name and address of the sender and receiver. I used the same USCIS service center address on both letters of intent, since both were being submitted to the same service center, but it really doesn't matter. I doubt they even look at the address. The substance of the letter and the signature are the essential parts. The only guidance in the I-129F instructions are to submit "original statements from you and your fiance(e)...to establish your mutual intent". As long as your letters do that, then you should be good.

You'll probably need to prepare another pair of letters for the consulate, dated close to the interview date. Both of those should be addressed to the consulate. But again, the address is just a formality.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!
