Hard to believe Obama could simultaneously bankrupt the country, start wars in two different countries, underhandedly kill the automotive, banking/financial, health and all the other failing industries, all while usurping and disregarding the sacred Constitution in just over 100 days! Snikeys!

Racism and partisanship couched as 'legitimate' concern over the Constitution are irresponsible and dishonest, and more than a bit troubling to me.

Not directly aiming the accusation of racism at you Gary, please rest assured! I know you are not, but the seccessionist/tea party/the Fed's are taking over the country bandwagon started by the Right is thinly disguising its true nature and aims. Dangerous in such dire times.

And I do think there is something to your last suggestion about large programs being individually State run, but most of the chatter about trampling the Constitution from the Right are thinly disguised shots at the new President and the Democrats. Where was the same concern, beyond fringe survivalist groups six months ago??? Nowhere...

I have hated the expansion of the federal government for most of my life. This has NOTHING to do with Obama. I hated it when Bush did as well. We have had a steady march to a bloated government throughout the 20th century. Both sides have been guilty of it and I deplore all of it. I am sure that some of the reason for the current uproar is sour grapes from the election but anyone that is paying attention has to acknowledge that is is accelerating at a frightening rate since Obama took office. All these bail outs, the call for federalizing health care and the vast multitude of new programs being talked about has awakened people to something we should have been paying attention to for decades.

ETA.. What the hell does racism have to do with ANYTHING!!! I find the predilection of some to cry racism deplorable and nothing but an attempt to deflect. Shame on you!!!

As I clearly stated, you are near and dear to me as a fellow VJ'r, I was not accusing you of racism. A good deal of the furor from the Right has racial overtones, I am not ashamed to call a spade a spade.

I simply don't recall this huge debate, beyond the lunatic fringe, prior to Obama taking office. The the big furor on State's rights currently is one of the extensions of Republican's death to all who failed to keep us in power strategies. Not ashamed to call that spade a spade either.

I concur to some degree with your feelings of the Federal governments creeping power, but that is also a function of advancing technology, and climbing population figures. If you say you have always felt strongly the Federal governments powers need to be harnessed back in, I for one will take you at your word. I don't doubt your sincerity. Peace!

Gary, I respect the fact that you are not partisan in your critique. Fair enough.

Just out of curiosity --- since you state that federal expansion occurred during the 20th century and you'd like us to return to the era of the Founding Fathers.

What's your view of the decision by Federalist leaders Washington, Adams, Hamilton to have the US government undertake to federalize the Revolutionary war debt from the states in 1790? That set the precedent for the federal government to run a treasury deficit on behalf of all the collective states, and thereby harmonize commerce among them. It was not "in the Constitution", and in fact was subject to very heated debate between northern and southern states on opposite sides of the issue. This was really the first instance of a federal bailout and it happened over 200 years ago.

Debate over the proper role and scope of the federal government has been with this nation since its birth. It's a very legitimate debate. But your sense of outrage that somehow this is something new, something sinister, something that is recent in our times and we need to get back to the old days... that's a myth.

Hey Marc. I've never "played" with you before, but I've seen you and Steve and Spooky go at it many a night ;)

Obviously you're just itchin' for some action tonight, huh?

That's why you're littering every OT thread with your spew  ?

Guess Steve is off watering his daisies, so you'll just have to content yourself with spew spew spew.... :innocent:

Don't you have any daisies to water Marc? Maybe some petunias or daffodils?

Babes like me just love a nice bunch of flowers from farts like you!

I'm glad that at least if we're gonna pollute and destroy a thread, let's do it to Gary's

Threads are pretty much over when Marc drops his trousers and squats over the proceedings.

Lowest common denominators don't get any lower with him.

I thought you guys were pals.

No he's my boy! always has been always will be! He's a little prairie dog that likes to pop his head up once in a while! He's so cute when he does that.
