USCIS received our I-485 on December 30, 2008 and my wife had her biometrics on January 20, 2009. Her file hasn't been "touched" since January 21, 2009. Our local office is Sacramento, ca. We have noticed that other that filed after us have alread received an interview date or have been approved. Thanks!

Did you call or write USCIS to inquire as to case status? Are you set up for updates online?

I am set up for email notices and I also check status each day online. I haven't called yet, what to do a little background research on this site first.

Thanks for your response.

Maybe FBI is doing quite big background research on her life

I noticed that some ppl who sent AOS packages in the same time what i did have already been approved but i m still waiting. I guess thats cuz i used to work in places all over Europe so the FBI checking is taking longer. I m patient so far

Honestly i have no idea why they dont go follow the dates of AOS packages receiving. Some ppl have been waiting over 6 months and others got approval in less than 2 months. You never know with them

Has your AOS been transfered to CSC yet? Most K1s are transfered to CSC for processing and most K3s are sent to local office for interviews. Timelines can vary for many reasons such as processing time at Missouri NBC and how backed up the service center or local office is.

If you petitioned for EAD and have not received it yet, you could schedule an infopass and ask for an interim EAD. EADS are suppose to be sent in 90 days. While at the infopass you could inquire about the status of the AOS.

There is information on this site about the normal timelines for different applications depending on the service center and local office which will help you to see if you are outside normal processing times but I do not think you are yet. But different cases take different amounts of time which is why some who file after you will get moving along faster - but you could be stuck in FBI namechecks for awhile or it could be anything else. Check out the official timelines and go from there.

Occasionally the USCIS service center can give you real information about where your case is stuck. Mostly they just read from a script though. If you are outside the normal timeframe (doesn't look like it - based on your post), you can get your Congressman to look into it. They have a liason at USCIS that will get answers. Good luck.

When I got the scripted, not-so-useful answers from the call centre people, I asked for my call to be escalated to an immigration officer. The IOs can see much more information and should be able to tell you if there is a problem.

USCIS says it is about 6 months for AOS, usually it is faster. I imagine Sacremento is a pretty busy office, that may be why.
