There was a long wait today because they were short staffed after the holiday. Our appointment was at 10:15, but we didn't get called in until about 10:45. We spent about 10-15 minutes being interviewed.

We left the interview letter in the window and waited with about 30 other people in the waiting room.

We were called back by a middle aged Asian woman who was very nice.

My husband is ok with his English but still learning. She said that she would talk slowly and if he needed help, that I could translate. We did not need to bring a translator.

She took us to her office and had us swear to tell the truth.

She asked to see our IDs. I had made copies of our IDs and she seemed to appreciate that she didn't have to make a copy.

She asked me how we met.

She took out the I-485 and read the information to my husband asking him to confirm. (name, address, parents' names) She put a check on the form as she confirmed all of the information.

She asked him if he is still a student. She asked if I support him financially while he is in school.

She asked for his social security card, but we didn't bring it. She said that was fine.

She asked him when my birthday was.

She asked some of the "no" questions on the I-485. (have you been deported, arrested, received public assistance....)

She asked to see our wedding certificate. I gave her an original and a copy. She checked to make sure that we married within 90 days.

She asked to see wedding photos. She asked who attended the wedding. She asked why were weren't dressed up. (We drove to Nevada for a quickie wedding with plans for something bigger later this year).

She stamped the I-485 form writing that she made zero changes. She had hubby sign the stamp, acknowleding no changes. She had me sign the bottom of the form since I completed it for him.

She asked if we were wearing wedding rings and we both raised our hands to show our rings. She asked why the rings didn't match. Hubby has a simple band. I have a diamond.

She asked if we brought proof of joint accounts etc. I gave her a stack of about 45 pages. (We've lived together for 5 years, and I gave her a few pages for each year. She flipped through the pages.

She asked if I was still working at my job. I told her no, that I had been laid off. I told her that I was receiving unemployment and doing some consulting work on the side. She commented about how bad the economy is. She asked if I thought that I would return to the same company. I told her that was possible, but in the meantime I was looking for other work. She did NOT ask for check stubs, a new I-864, nothing!

She left to make copies of some of our pictures.

When she returned she asked hubby if he cooked  (odd).

She told us that we would receive a two year green card in the mail. She wrote down I-751 on a sticky paper and told us to use that form 90 days before this card expired.

She asked if we had any questions and she walked us out.

Good luck to everyone and thanks for all of your help!

As a side note, our I-94 expired in July of 2008. We applied for AOS in February 2009. So we had an overstay of 7 months. This was not an issue and never mentioned at the interview.

Passage Revelation 19:11:

11And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

"satan is real and he's playing for keeps
God is realer and we are His sheep
which side are you on, CHOOSE, start moving your feet
choose JESUS and have ETERNAL PEACE" by GOD to me on 9/26/10 about 2am
Thank you Jesus!!!!
