On a serious note, whether Bork was a worse nominee than Miers depends upon whom you ask. Miers was clearly unfit for the task, she was way out of her league. That nomination reflected much worse on Bush for having brought her name forth, than on her.

Bork was (is) a serious legal scholar who was on federal appellate courts when nominated by Reagan. But he was anathema to liberals and widely believed to favor the overturn of Roe V. Wade. For liberals, Bork on the court was seen as a disaster. Naturally, to this day he is the patron saint of conservatives when searching for a litmus-test judge on social issues.
