Thanks for all the replies...It seems that the bottom line is, that JFK has an MD there with the USCIS, then they can ask for it, otherwise, it's a no no....I'll keep it in the suit case then...

Thanks guys !!!!!!!!

who indicated that JFK has a MD with the USCIS? USCIS has no presence at JFK AFAIK.

the reason for the medical is to determine if an alien has a medical condition causing them to be ineligible to enter. If the alien is ineligible to enter, then NO visa would have been issued. They make this determination AT the consulate.

No one indicated....I just read all the answer and compiled them into a single sentence.... I took in consideration all replies as well as this when compiling my conclusion: "They didn't ask for mine in Feb. When you think about it, that wouldn't make sense as they are not MDs and have not qualifications whatsoever to read the X-Ray. However, keep it in safe place as it is valid for a year and might be asked in some situations after arrival."

Once again, thanks for all the replies....you are always there for us when we need the most...thanks VJ members.

You misread the post you compiled into one sentence... what the poster said is that it wouldn't make sense because there are NOT any MD's at the POE

YMMV

All,

Anyone here with a recent experience of POE being at JFK ???? I have read conflicting stories about whether or not the X-Ray of a fiancee' must be presented to the USCIS officer at the POE.

Question is, do I need to have it available with me along with my fiancee's brown sealed envelope or can I pack it on my suite case since it's a huge X-Ray envelope (almost as big as my largest suite case)?

Thanks in advance and have a wonderful day. :D

P.S.: I couldn't find a POE forum, so I posted here. Moderators, please move this topic to where it belongs...Thanks

Nope Customs didnt ask for it....but I had it in my handcarry just incase they ask.

I had my POE in Hawaii last October 2008 and they did ask for my x-ray , the officer just put a stamp on that big envelope like the A# flight no. , the US address and phone number. But I guess it has changed now or maybe it depends on the DHS officer.

Interesting. Maybe the different POE airports have different procedures.

There is no need for your xray at JFK. I came through there on a K1 last October. If there was a problem with your xray, then you would not have been granted the visa!

Exactly - so I wonder why Hawaii wanted the x-ray in the post above. Hmmm....

I don't have any idea, I remember it well too that the other 4 immigrants before me, they were asked for their x-rays too and put a stamped on it. It doesn't make sense to me.

At my Embassy interview for K1 visa (May 19) the Consular Officer specifically said that I should take the X-ray with me, becuse I will need it in the future in my life in the US, but NOT at the port of entry. She told me:" keep it safe, for you will need it in the future"

US Citizen since 08/11/2015.

I know this is about the JFK POE but my question is, does it mean that the procedures in POE in the US variest? or there is only a certain/ specific countries where the DHS officers ask for the X-ray.

No idea - but let me PM some folks to see if there is a better place to ask the question.

I assume just like different consulates have the ability to adopt local procedure that maybe the POE's have some latitude... If I remember correctly, that in the almost three years I have been on this site... there have been only 2 or 3 reports of x-rays being requested. If I remember correctly, one instance at HNL and one at MSP. The occurrence is statistically insignificant. If they want it tell them it is in your bags and you need to go get it.

YMMV
