Hi Everyone,

My fiance and I just got our open letter of appointment to go to Juarez for our interview :D I know we must take her 9 year old girl for the medical exam prior to the interview. Can anyone please advise as to the best day to arrive and how long to stay? I have read anywhere from 4 to 10 days. I am thinking ...be there Sunday for a fresh start Monday morning. But what about a departure day? To make a long story short I need to know in order to book the flights and hotel.

Thanks in advance for any information in helping us with "Michelle".

From the consulate website:

"Applicants ages two (2) years to (14) fourteen years of age must undergo the medical examination at least four (4) work days prior to their scheduled appointment at the Consulate. Failure to do so may result in processing delays or rescheduling of initial appointment. It is also recommended that children within this age range should be immunized at least four (4) weeks prior to their medical examination"

If you go to the exam on Monday, the little girl's results will not be ready until Thursday. At one time the consulate was not accepting open appointments on Fridays (check your letter to see if this is still the case). If that is still the case, you would need to wait the weekend and go to the open appointment on Monday. You may want to arrive Monday and do the medical on Tuesday to save a day.

Since you have an open appointment, they let you into the consulate immediately, so you don't need to worry about "beating the traffic". I think their business just varies randomly and there is not necessarily a better or worse day to go.

Assuming that all goes well with the visa appointment, you would be able to leave Monday evening. You never know how long it will take to get across the bridge to the airport, so you may want to depart Tuesday. If your fiancee has any illegal US presence and needs a waiver, then it will take longer a second appointment will be required.

It doesn't hurt to leave a few days cushion in the travel plans just in case something comes up.

I would just add a couple things. I just did this process with an 8 year old about two months ago. We called the clinic and decided that it was best to do it over the weekend. My fiance and her daughter arrived on a Thurs. and did the Medicals on Friday. The results for the child were ready on Monday but not in time to go to the consulate. They went for the interview on Tuesday and received their visas from DHL on Wednesday. I don't know if you know but the consulate doesn't give you the visa the same day anymore. You have to check with DHL and go pick it up from them when it's done. Most of the recent people post 1-2 day wait time to get the visa. So our trip was for an entire week Thurs-Thurs. We gave ourselves two days after the interview to get the visas. In my mind, doing the medicals on a Monday will probably take more time because of the fact they don't give you your visa the same day. If you do your interview on Friday, I really don't think you will get your visa on Sat, since DHL is only open a half day. So you will be waiting until Monday or Tuesday. FYI: You should post anymore questions about Juarez in the Juarez forum. It's nice to keep all the info in one place.

We just went thru this with my Fiance's 3 y/o. They did the medicals on Wednesday and we had the results ready to go for the interview on Firday morning. She told them she had an interview scheduled for Friday morning and they had the results ready by 8am. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they arent too busy this week yet and have been closed over the last few days. Just our situation but as you know everyone is different. Expect the 48hr wait for results. So if you get here Monday you should be able to do the interview on Thursday. But REMEMBER the consulate is closed the last Friday of every month. We ended up being here Wed thru Wed. Seems like a normal thing. Plan a week, enjoy the town and be positive for your fiance. best of luck!!!!
