Weird food combinations

Cat's sandwich thread got me thinking about this.

So is there any odd food combinations that you enjoy? Anything that makes another person do a double take but you insist that it's awesome??

I have a few and they are...

Canned tuna, rice and lemon pepper:

its awesome and my favorite thing to eat but it grosses my husband out every time I eat it.

Pretzels and cream cheese:

Also very yummy but most people give me weird stares when I eat it.

Toast dipped in tomato juice:

If I order toast in a restaurant I usually dip it in tomato juice. It's really good.

Well, I've made ketchup-toast sandwiches at home, so I'll take this as variation.

bacon and peanut butter:

I don't eat bacon very often but when I do I like to put peanut butter on it. But I have heard this is quite common.

Maybe we'll find others who enjoy the same thing we do and learn that we're not so uncommon after all.

I like ketchup on my mac and cheese and on my scrambled eggs... syrup is good on scrambled eggs too..

I've had omelets (hardly difference from scramble) with syrup when younger.

biryani plus hummous is an excellent (and very out-of-box so far for this thread) combination.

Hot Sauce on just about everything. Fried Chicken, omelette, pastrami sandwich, potato chips (Doritos specifically), mmmmmmmmmmm I'm hungry now. I don't really consider that weird though, a lot of people here in L.A. do that. I think the only weird food combo that I do is I like mustard on plain donuts

How 'bout mayonaise and french fries YUCK!!!!! This is eaten in Germany

Um..that is one of my faves, lol! Actually, I heard that chicken sauce from McDonald's really is just straight up mayo, so for those of you that use it on your fries, apparently there is no secret ingredient.

If you live out west, you can get that on your "In and Out Burger" fries too. Just order your fries Animal Style and they'll be covered in the mayo type dressing stuff they use for the burgers if you get it Animal Style...

When I lived in Morgantown, West Virginia, a lot of the restaurants had "fries and bleu" .... french fries with a side of bleu cheese dressing. It was yummy! I still order that now, and get weird looks.

So, as an American, my wonderful Canadian SO has told his family what my family eats as a snack on Christmas day and, according to him, they all say "yuck" and how can we stand to mix those "tastes". So, here's my chance to find out if he & his family is weird or if this is truly an "American" thing... like poutine is "Canadian".

We eat cream cheese with cocktail sauce (like what you eat with shrimp) poured on top of the cream cheese brick. Then, you put crabmeat on top of the cocktail sauce. This is served by cutting off a portion of the cheese brick and then you use a cracker (such as Ritz or Town House or Club Crackers).

Soooo yummy!!! I think it has to do with the sweet (cream cheese), salty (crabmeat), and tangy (cocktail sauce).

This is good with drained canned clams also

In Levant (and also in Sub-continent) this is commonplace (ok, I stretched the idea of "bread" to include pitas, ...; and also the "yoghurt" to include dishes in which it is a major ingredient such as raita, kadhi, korma...)

Yummy!! Poutine!!! I love it. I haven't looked properly through the deli/cheese sections of the grocery stores in SC yet, but if I come across something I can use as cheese curds....*slurping at the thought of it*...

It's the brown sauce they give you at Swiss Chalet. That kind of tea sauce or I can't even define the taste of it. That doesn't taste good :)

But somehow I've never met one Canadian that doesn't like it

Chalet sauce is very popular indeed, I don't eat it as it has chicken fat in it. But I buy the packages in the store and my hubby loves it, I pour it over his chicken or even as a sub for poutine.

Hmmm I have some weird things..

Campbell's chicken noodle soup with soda crackers, lettuce and celery in it (*I'm a veggie-aholic)

Pickles and mashed potatoes

boiled broccoli and cauliflower doused in hot sauce

and my grandfather got me loving tea biscuits with a cube of cheddar cheese and molasses on top
