Born in US, living outside and Lost birth certificate

The US Embassy/Consulate will probably not be able to issue you a birth certificate - That has to come from the vital statistics office/department in the State/County where you were born.

If you were born overseas (as a US citizen) am not certain they could do it either.

Your passport will prove citizenship if that's what you mean by 'things needed to go to the US'...

I believe my husband used this website to get his birth certificate with apostille before our marriage. Look online for more sites.

title says all

I wanna know if I visit the consulate then what do I need to provide

so that they reissue the birth certificate and get all the docs needed to go to US?

I'm confused. don't know how to do it

You obtain it by calling the city or county clerk where you were born. They will put you in touch with the right office. In some places, the state keeps all the records, and in others the local city or county does. For a fee, they will FedEx what you need.

reminds me of an older chinese woman in the USC services office of the beijing embassy who was screaming in chinese about how she lost her US passport, and if they just gave her a new one, everything would be fine. my wife asked her what color a US passport was. "red, of course, like all passports".

Contact the town hall in the place where you were born and ask for some help. I guess it varies. I think you can get a B/C through a state office or sometimes right at the town hall.
