I have received form I-797C NOA saying that my conditional residency has been extended for one more year and that I will be receiving an ASC appointment telling me when my appointment will be for biometric processing. Does anyone know how long it takes to get this appointment notice?

Hi Borbala,

Here is my I-751 VJ "NOA to Biometrics" timeline.....(for more information, see my complete VJ timeline)

Date Filed :2008-08-18NOA Date :2008-08-22 Bio. Appt. :2008-09-24 (Walk-In Biometrics) (Original Appt Date 10/02/08, Notice Date 2008-09-11)

Hope this helps. Good luck on the rest of your immigration journey too.

Ant (Still waiting for Card 9 months+, Still waiting for Baby 9 months)

P.S In the meantime, yes, your NOA extends your conditional residency for 1 more year. Keep this notice, along with your expired 2yr green card, to be used for travel and employment purposes while your case is still pending.

Thanks for the reply. It was really helpful however I'm really confused about stuff. It's been 2 years that I got my conditional green card and now i applied for removal. I saw that it took 8 months for them to process your case if i understood it right. Does it normally take that long? I really want to have my permanent card as soon as possible. I mean I've been waiting for so long. I didn't know it would take months. I thought that they would give me an appointment for biometrics quickly and then the interview and I'm done in like 2 months. I will die if i have to wait 8 months. :( Are there any cases that only take a few months? Oh and how much are those immigration lawyers?

Where did you send your application. If you sent it to CSC, it appears to be a lot faster. You can look under the top link under processing times, to get an idea.

Hi Borbala,

You're welcome for the reply. Glad it helped.

Yes, it is true.....It took 8 months for them to approve my case. On top of that, it took an additional month for them to order my card....And I'm still waiting for the card, now at 9 months+ (see my VJ timeline for more info)....

However, I was a VSC filer (and later a VSC to CSC transfer), and for them it is "normal" to process these cases in 6-12 months, and they are otherwise known as the "Very Slow Center", here on VJ. Lol...believe me, I have "died" (ok, so not literally...but close enough, as I've been hospitalized a couple of times since I've been waiting). Add to the fact that I have a high-risk pregnancy currently, it doesn't help either...sigh......

Since you are a direct CSC filer, your "normal" processing time should be betwen 4-6 months, according to past and current CSC processing timelines. No need to hire a lawyer for your I-751, as they won't help much here.

Rather, the only solutions if you are "outside of standard processing times", is to contact your senator, congressperson, ombudsman, if you should run into any problems. Lol...believe me when I contacted my local congressperson, it sure did help in getting my case expedited and eventually approved.

Funny how a conditional 2yr green card takes 3-6 months, yet a 10yr non-conditional card takes 6-12 months....

Hope this helps too. Good luck on the rest of your journey.
