The DS-3032 is the first step in applying for the immigrant CR/IR-1 visa. You'd have to send some more paperwork to the NVC and it will take at least 1-2 months, and then they would assign you an immigrant visa interview date.

Because your interview date for the K-3 is next week it might be best for you to just stick with that. Read the "Guides" section above though to learn more about the CR/IR-1 visa to see if it would be better for you and worth the delay of a few months.

yep

A k3 is really the option of two different visa types. After your petitions(130,129f) are approved at the USCIS, they forward them to the NVC. NVC sends the 129f(k3) straight to the consulate for interview scheduling. The CR1(130) stays at NVC for more processing before its sent completed to the consulate for an interview.

When you follow the k3, you will still receive forms, instructions and fee bills from NVC. If you wish to persue the CR-1(130), then you can follow the process through NVC. If you dont want that and wish to stay with the K3(129f), just ignore all of the correspondence you get from NVC regarding the CR1 immigrant visa.

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
