I am a K1 Fiance Visa immigrant who just got married and is getting ready to file for Adjustment of Status. I read in the instructions for the application that K1 visa holders do not need to send an entire medical examination again, but just a "vaccination supplement". Does that mean I have to copy the one from the old report (from when I filed the 1-129F) or do I have to go to the doctor again to get a new one?

Thanks.

If your medical was less than 1 year before the receipt date of your AOS then another medical is not neccessary. The directions call for the I-693 vaccination supplement. A copy of your CS-3025 can be transcribed to the I-693 by a Civil Surgeon.

Many VJers call Dr. L.E. Arnold in Texas as he does it for about $35. Call and leave a message about getting the I-693 transcribed and the assistant should call you back: 512 444-3131.

Unless you can find a Civil surgeon in your area that can beat Dr. Arnolds price [HIGHLY unlikely] . Go with him!!

LOTS here in VJ have used him with success.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

We sent only the DS-3025 my wife received at the medical exam. We didn't need anything else for AOS

The DS3025 is enough for a K1 if you had every shot needed to meet the AOS requirements prior to coming to the US. If you have shots lacking, then you will need a new report done on the form I-693 showing your DS3025 records as well as the shots you got here. The list of what is required by age group is in this document http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/PDF/wk/mm5753-Immunization.pdf.

We did not do an I-693 and got a green card in May.

You need civil surgeon to transcribe DS-3025 to I-693. Your spouse's medical is valid for 12 months. Some civil surgeon tells the applicant to have medical again but don't do it(don't let them to fool you). Just request the transcribe and the vaccines if needed.

You can find civil surgeon designated in your area by checking on this USCIS site .People also here in VJ have good recommendations too. So, If I were the applicant, I would choose Vjers suggestion.

I too thought it was the receipt date but we got a receipt notice dated March 26, 2009 and my husband's medical exam was completed April 11, 2008. We got an RFE for I-693 dated May 15th. We had a civil surgeon here fill out the vaccination portion of the I-693 and she noted on the other sections "exam completed overseas 11-Apr-2008 and I sent that in with the I-485.

I think they should say that your medical exam should be valid by the time they finally get around to reviewing your case, not at the time you filed.

edp333 is right, it is the receipt date of you AOS not when they review your case. At least that is the way it is supposed to be. We had our medical in late March 2008, and applied for AOS in May 2008, days before they changed the rules to not allow I693A as the vaccine supplement. The rules in effect at the time of our filing were used. We were not interviewed until May 13, 2009... and we had no issues with the medical.

WonTanNara, did your RFE specifically say that your medical was outdated?

The USCIS has exceptions to their own rules. Some examples besides yours are the I-130 and I-29f both being forwarded to the NVC on K3 visas; getting a conditional green card when the interview is after two year anniversary; and getting AOS approval with DS-3025 only.

That is why I try to use terms like should and according to the directions.

We finally got the RFE 12 days after it was mailed and it said that the medical forms from my husband's exam overseas were not in his file. The RFE letter also said "per our records you entered pursuant to a K-2 visa." Well, he entered on a K-1 so I wonder if the dipsticks are looking in the wrong place. Either that or they lost it. Either way it's just ridiculous and makes me so mad!

We only have until June 14th to respond so I think we need to just do it again, but I've contacted my senator's office as well.

THEY LOST IT, you'll have to do another exam. The same thing happened to my stepdaughters. I wish they would at least take some responsibility for their f-ups.

I am trying to figure this out now. I had a health center try to charge me 220 for a whole new physical and TB and counseling. I ran away and I have an appt. at another place Monday. How do you know what boosters you need or of you need any? I really do not trust people after my last experience. We had our physical in March in Nicaragua. Help!
