Hi all!

Does anyone know what the hold up is with the VSC? I never expected USCIS to update their online database because we haven't beeen touched or had our status change since we filed the last day of January. I have been going by Igor's list's timeline and a few weeks ago it was saying we could probably expect our NOA2 the first week of June. Now its been backed up all the way til the end of July.

What the heck is going on? Some people in other forums have said they have been mroe busy with the H1B visas and put the K-1's aside but who knows what the truth really is? I thought the service centers processed more than 25 cases a week and if thats the case then it wouldn't take 2 months to get the NOA2. I'm just annoyed because at this rate I'll be here til x-mas the way this is going. Hopefully things will change or speed up or something.

There really is no rhyme or reason to how they process things. I think one thing to remember is that VJ accounts for only about 5% of the cases for any particular visa going through Vermont. The timelines you see here are in no way accurate. They also change regularly. When I filed last June, it said to expect an NOA2 in September, and I didn't get mine until almost November.

My advice to everyone is budget for 8-12 months and you won't be disappointed. My process took just about 9 months to process and I had a slow timeline. I know that the summer months always slow things down it seems (most likely due to vacations) and then the Xmas season seemed to slow me down again.

Thanks Sapphire. We figured it would not take that long (8-12 months). It seems like so many other people have gotten their approvals within 2-3 months and we have so much proof and have known each other 17 years. Not like it really matters or helps us I guess seeing as how others have gotten their stuff way faster.

I really figured I wouldn't be spending another x-mas here in Montreal. Now its looking like that will probably be the case. Its more time with my friends and family so I'm happy about that part of it. Its just really annoying on the other hand as the rest of you all know who have gone thru it all.

I'll just keep working and trying to keep myself busy and keeping my mind off all the USCIS stuff.

^^ I found that at every stage of the process, knowing that I was really close to the next step made me feel a bit crazy. Like you should probably get your NOA2 very soon, of course it's hard to know exactly when, but the last month before the next step and just the 'not knowing' made things hard. I remember that very well.

Once you get your NOA2 things will pick up again and you'll start to feel more optimistic. Even if you happen to get a long timeline, at 10 months it will only be October for you, so I don't think you need to worry about not being there at Xmas!

I hope you hear something soon!

oh and I mean 8-12 months for the whole process, not just your NOA2.

I've seen some go through as fast as 6 months, but I think the safe average is 8 months.

Yup, its super frustrating but waiting is half the battle I guess.

I just got a call from my fiance. Its his sister's graduation party from medical school tonite and it really sucks when all our friends and all his family are getting on the phone with me saying how much they wish I was there. His sister and I are super close and she was sad I couldn't be there for her. On the plus side, she's moving to Long Island next Friday to do her residency so she can drive up to Canada and visit me while I'm waiting for all this to be resolved.

I'm just glad I have a great support system between my family and his and all our mutual friends. It helps so much! There are definitely those days that it hits me hard like today and their love really helps and of course all you great VJ-ers that help out as well.

Hi Everyone,

VSC= Very Slow Center.... :devil:

As for what exactly they are doing there in Vermont...who knows...

Some therories include:

1) Making maple syrup

2) Burning case files to heat fireplaces with during the freezing cold winter

3) Taking skiing vacations

4) (Insert your own humourous theory here)

Ok, on a serious note, like all of you, I filed my case in VSC (the I-751), and waited and am still waiting and...

-August 2008-March 2009: "Case pending" at VSC for 6 months (note: normal processing times for I-751s are "6 months or less")

-March 2009: "Case transferred" to CSC (after 1 USCIS expedite)

-April 2009: "Case approved " (after 1 Congressional expedite)

-May 2009: "Card production ordered" (after another 1 USCIS expedite/inquiry)

-Present June 2009: Still waiting for the actual plastic 10yr green card...9+ months later...

-Present July 2009: Still waiting for Baby....9 months later....

Lol...at this rate "I'll be in the delivery room" before "I see my 10yr green card being delivered"....

For more information, see my VJ timeline...(the link can be found on my signature below).

As well, you can see more posts about VSC complaints on the I-751 VJ boards here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showforum=86 and the "VSC I-751 Status List" here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=110056 (scroll to the last updated list page)

This wait for everyone (especially at the VSC) is "beyond reasonable" with the USCIS overall. What a waste indeed!....

Regardless of service center, the USCIS will always be incompetent.... :crying:

To all of you still waiting: "Don't give up and be persistent!".

And by all means, especially if you are "outside of the standard processing times", I definitely encourage you to:

1) Contact your local congressperson/senator/ombudsman for additional expedite help.

2) To call the USCIS mis-information telephone line for inquiries.

Hope this helps. Good luck on the rest of your immigration journeys at the VSC too.

At 1 time VSC was the centre everyone wanted! I think they just go through cycles where they are fats, slow, fast!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
