I-90 will miss Biometric appointment

Hey all,

I applied for my mother's renewal of green card. She is out of town on a family matter and she won't be able to make the appointment. The problem is, I can't send the rescheduling letter (on the I-797C NOA) to the USCIS address in Phoenix (which is litterally minutes away from where I live) until Tuesday at 9:00 AM. The appointment is at 8:00 on Tuesday.

What should I do? Should I just send the letter anyway and see what happens? Should I go to the appointment without my mother and see if I can postpone it in person?

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

During my AOS I received a biometrics appointment two days before we were scheduled to fly out on Christmas holidays and it was for the day before our return flight. I drove the rescheduling request to the ASC myself and hand delivered it, not trusting that it would get there in time with Christmas mail. There was no problem with doing this and the guard accepted the letter requesting the reschedule - which eventually came through about a month later.

I would definitely try postponing the appointment yourself and the request for a reschedule. Bring the biometrics appointment letter as the official reschedule request (make a copy for yourself) and explain in person the reason for the reschedule request. You can certainly point out the short time line - along with the holiday - in trying to get it rescheduled. Appearing the same day as the actual appointment, even if it is an hour later, shouldn't cause you any problems and you should be able to get the biometrics rescheduled. Good luck.
