okiee so my husband's interview date is on june 23rd so i been looking for tickets for italy to las vegas and one way is almost 1500$$ and round trip is like 700$$$ so my question is if we get the round trip tickets will it matter? would they care and ask why we did that???? plz help

no, but I'm hoping to have it in July and my hubby will come the middle of sept. because that's when the contract for his job ends. I will be with him June-August though

Be careful when you buy round trips and intend to only use the leg (one way). I have read somewhere in a forum (that I cannot find now :() about airlines charging penalties/ the price of a one way ticket if you do not use the second segment of your flight (the return). Just in case, don't let them know your intention is not to use it, don't call for a refund of the unused leg, and generally read the fine prints to see if they charge you for not using the second leg. Better yet, if you buy your ticket from an agency, have them check this. An airline representative would not be allowed to tell you "sure, you can buy a round trip and use only one leg".

If you intend to return in the states with your hubby, buy an open return flight. A bit more expensive, but not as much as 2 round trip tickets.

11/17/08 : Application sent (I-130, I-131, I-485, I-765)

11/18/08 : Official receipt of documents stated on I-797C (Signature for receipt at USCIS was on 11/17/2008 at 10PM)

11/28/08 : NOA Received ( I-797C) for all 4 forms (forms issued on 11/26/2008)

12/18/2008: LUD on I-130, I-131, I-765

01/29/2009: Bio done

01/29, 30/2009: LUD on I485 and I765

2/10/2009: issued AP, valid 1 year for multiple entries.

2/23/2009: Got EAD card

3/8/2009: LUD on all applications. Shows approval of I131 and I765, still pending on I130, I485.

04/28/2009 at 9:30 AM: Interview. Told to wait 90 days for a resolution by mail.

05/01/2009: Card production ordered.

05/06/2009: Received approval NOAs for I130 and I485 (welcome notice, 10 years card). I130 still shows case received and pending.

06/18/2009: got the 10 years validity card. Process length: 213 days since sending the applications.

No RFE at all along the process.

From work situations I can tell you for the non-refundable tickets you are allowed to use the un-used portion of your trip sometime in the future with the penalty/change fee (around $150) and possible difference in price - so it could be for less than $150. My people do this all the time.
