Hi,

My fiance and I have recently decided that he will move to the UK rather than me (UK citizen) moving there.

However, our application for a K1 had already been accepted and we were in the process of gather documents for the interview. As we do plan on us relocating to the US in a couple of years, I want to make sure that we go about withdrawing/cancelling our K1 application in the correct way (in case it affects our future application) but I can't find any information on how to do this.

Does anyone have any experience with this process or know where I might be able to find the information i'm looking for?

Thanks in advance.

Write a simple letter to USCIS (and at this point, probably the consulate as well) stating that the petitioner wishes to withdraw the petition and that the beneficiary will not be petitioning for the K1 visa at this point. Include a copy of the NOA (NOA1 or NOA2) so USCIS and/or the Embassy/Consulate can tie the letter to your particular case.

They should reply with a confirmation - (Canceled/Withdrawn Without Prejudice.)

Hi Karen/Otto,

Thanks for the reply. I had assumed it would be something like that.

Do you happen to know which USCIS address we should write to though? The only one I have is the Vermot processing centre and I assume that they don't typically process such things. Or am I wrong?

Thanks again.

Emma
