We received our NOA2 Notice of Approval on May 6. I have received no notices from NVC and the automated NVC system still gives a response stating that our paperwork has not been received by NVC. However... this week the live operator told us that our file had been received May 19 and we should look for it to head to Manila in a few days. When we called again Friday a live operator gave us our MNL2009 case number but said " Your file has been selected for further review.". When I inquired as to exactly what that means and what we can expect it became clear that she knew no more than I did what that means. Other than the two conversations with NVC call center and the approval notice hard copy we have received no info from USCIS or NVC. Any help? Thanks.

Exactly what she said. This procedure is variously called "Administrative Processing" or "Additional Processing" also abbreviated "AP" sometimes, not to be confused with Advance Parole.

Your file was selected either because of a name check or randomly. It can delay the process 5-8 weeks. Calling USCIS or NVC will only raise your blood pressure and result in confusion because you will not receive the same answer twice. You now wait until AP is complete and the file is forwarded to the consulate. NVC and the consulates can, and sometimes do, AP on petitions. Sorry, but there is no better explanation.

Sad to say that you are in "additional processing" and might be delayed up to about 50 days. You should call the NVC once a week or so and ask if your case has been sent to Manila yet.

I too unfortunately got the Further Review nonsense, and my case took forty two days to make it out of NVC. Most people fly through NVC in three days or so, but those of us unfortunate souls in Further Review take longer. Technically speaking they could keep your file there for months, but I doubt it. My case also took ten months in USCIS Vermont, when most fly through in ninety to one hundred days. It is hard to figure out why some of us end up with this type of difficulty. From all of the reading I've done on VJ over this time, it seems that multiple marriages and big age gap could be reasons.

Thank you all very much for your replies. I guess it's back to the waiting room for us. We were soooo happy to get the NOA2 but I guess these are the breaks.

If I were you guys having delay problems I'd contact my senators immigration specialist. One of your senators should have one.

They can't expedite but sometimes can boost a delay. Did for us.

I had GOOD results thruout the process with our senator.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship
