I certainly wouldn't be the best friend of either my wife or my dog if I locked them up in the trunk of my car.

In regards to locking up people in a trunk, always shake my head when I see movies with people locked up in a trunk. Since I work on cars a lot, if the electric solenoid doesn't work or the key lock is jammed by tampering, or the key is lost, the only way to open the trunk without using a torch or wrecking it with a crow bar is from the inside. Have to remove the rear sit to crawl in. Either the solenoid or the key has a spring loaded rod, just find it, even in the dark, pull on it, and the trunk pops open.

We were parked at a motel when someone tried to break into out trunk, GM uses a tamper proof lock if tampered with, the original key won't even work. I removed the rear seat, but it had sheet metal reinforcement bars that made the hole too small for me to crawl back. With a flashlight, pointed to a rod to my eight year old son at the time and said, Jon, just grab the rod and move it to the right. He was glad to do it, and snap the trunk popped opened. My point is, it is so easy to open a trunk from the inside, a child can do it.
