My Fiance is going to be here Saturday (in Austin Texas) What is the fastest way (or place) to buy/rent a wedding dress. We want to get married within a month of her arrival. Thank you

Depends on what kind of a dress you're looking for. Are you talking something expensive and fancy, that needs altering, or just something pretty that she likes? In the case of the former, I think that would be difficult to find on short notice. Those kinds of things need to be ordered in advance, and then altered to fit properly.

Congrats, by the way. :)

Thank you. Something pretty would do fine. Do you have any ideas?

Yes...

Davids bridal is your best bet. Even if there isn't one in your area, you can order it and have it sent to you. I was able to get the brides maid dress for my sisters wedding shipped to me in less than a week. I was very happy about that even though my sister put me in a purple dress that made me look like Barney

But she looked like cinderella....beautiful. In her dress from Davids bridal.

There's two David's Bridal in Austin. Unlike most bridal shops that carry sample dresses you order to size, David's carries a big stock. You can find a vast selection of dresses on the rack from tiny to large, ready to purchase and take that day.

Alterations can be done fairly quickly but they're expensive depending on the amount of work. The lace up back styles are flexible to fit one better. If she's short and the dresses are too long, suggest she find one with a skirt that's plain on the bottom for easier/faster hemming. A big skirt that is scallopped, beaded and lacy around the hem has to have all that removed before the length is cut off. Then it has to be re-attached...more work and probably over $100 for the alteration.

If a "traditional" kind of wedding dress isn't what she's after, and just wants a pretty dress that she likes, I'm sure you could take her to any department store. I don't know what kinds of things you could get at David's on short notice? Maybe some of the other girls would know. :)

I'm in Texas, but not in Austin, so not really sure exactly where. Hope we've all been able to help you with some ideas.

Davids Bridal you can go to and purchase most of their dresses "off the rack", some of them you may have to special order. They have lots of stock and lots of different sizes available. I purchased my dress from them for about $450 and its a "traditional" strapless dress with a full skirt to add "poof". I saw a comparable dress by a brand name designer in a catalogue it said compare with DB style....must have been at least over 1 grand! At DB you will also be able to buy shoes, slips and bras so there can be no running around for that stuff elsewhere if need be.

I got my dress off www.nordstrom.com! It was just a white summer dress. I loved it and it was $80! They have lots of "pretty dresses" and many are under $100.

Congrats & Good Luck!
