Hi...

Quick question..

What form of ID's can I show for my Biometrics appointment? My appointment letter states "government issued picture ID or passport".

I went to DMV today to renew my license and name change to my new married last name, BUT, the DMV clerk said I have to surrender my current license. I did, and they processed my license, took picture etc. They gave me an interim license (paper form) for the time being until I receive my actual license in the mail, which is about 2 weeks per DMV. My biometric appt is on June 6th...

Is the paper form ok to show for my biometric appointment?

I do have a passport but its been expired for about a year now...

Should I reschedule my Biometric appointment until I receive my actual license?

Does anyone know how long it actually takes for the license to come in the mail here in California?

Help? anyone?

Thanks in advance... and Have a Great Memorial Day Weekend.....

I don't believe the paper form will work as it needs to have your photograph on it. Your passport should work as it has a photograph and they may accept it even if it is expired. If they don't then ask for a new biometrics appointment. Sorry, no idea how long the new CA license will take - hopefully it will be in before your biometrics appointment.

In General it takes 1-2 weeks for the card to arrive in the mail. I got the Paper Interim Learner's permit when I went for the License to the DMV and then received the Card in the mail in about 8 days. NYC is one of the busiest, so I am sure you should get it sooner. Since you mentioned your Biometrics is on June 6th, I am sure you will get your License way before that. Also, If possible, try to renew your Passport before that. You have enough time. Do take your expired Passport for the Biometrics though. They may accept it. Usually they are more interested in your identity rather than the validity of the document.
