Entire tax return? It's like 100 pages long including CA. Do they really need that? Do they need my divorce certificate from US? Do they need any documents translated to Ukrainian from me or any documents translated to English from him (like police and medical)?

P.S. There's nothing in my timeline other than NOA1 in January yet... I wish I had all the steps completed like you guys but it's a dream at this point...

Entire tax return? No, just the IRS transcript will do it.

Do they need my divorce certificate from US? No, you already included that in the I-129F package to USCIS. The Embassy will have a copy of it.

Do they need any documents translated to Ukrainian from me or any documents translated to English from him (like police and medical)? All of the documents which the originals are written in Ukranian (I.e.: His birth certificate, police record, etc) MUST be translated into english and put into an Apostile.

Follow this link (U.S. Embassy in Kiev) and it wil tell you in details all the documents he will need for his interview.

Hope it helps ;-)

Joe, if I may. It is true an IRS transcript is acceptable, but the transcript will be of the entire return. Yes, she can order the transcript if it is more convenient. An apostile is not needed in Kiev. I didn't even know what an "apostile" was when we did our interview.

For each document requested, you will need the original, a legible photocopy and an original translation, signed and certified by the translator. They will keep the copy and the translation and return the original at the end of the interview process.

We decided to put all Nadiya's documents into an apostile because I over reacted. I just wanted to have all my basis covered. I didn't want to give them any room for them to delay our visa. I took about 10 Lbs of supporting documentation to the interview (I told you I over react), and at the end they didn't want to see anything (except the documents listed on the Information Package).

My IRS transcripts were only 1 page per year showing only the Gross, Net, Income Paid, Deduction totals, and Total amount of money I made on the Market (1099-B). Even though my tax returns are very long, many different forms (not a full rim of paper, but a substantial amount of pages) my transcripts still had 1 page per each year.

I hope Alla is doing fine here in Ukraine, we are heading back to the US this coming Thrusday, right now we are spending some time with Nadiya's family, saying good-byes and etc...you know how it goes.

Have a good one Gary.

Joe

Thanks Joe. yes Alla is fine, she is in Moscow right now visiting our oldest son at college and getting a cople documents for his interview as only Alla knows how to do. :)

I also brought too much, better to have it and not need it, I always say. I just used a copy of my tax return which is less onerous than yours.

Good luck, have a safe trip home. I will catch some smallmouth bass in your honor!

I just scanned the tax code-length tome Gary wrote  , and just wanted to add that the embassy looked at none of the extra stuff we took along. Vika had a huge volume of "proof", etc., but they consular officer didn't need it. I wouldn't worry too much at this point about the proof, especially if you are going to the interview. Best of luck!

WOW....such an honor...Thanks Gary..... It's fishing time for me, that's for sure... Once we get back, I'm sure Yan will have a ball going to the pond with me to catch a couple of bass :-D..

Guys, just an FYI....None of the U.S. Citizens that were attending the interview with our fiancee's on that Monday (05/18/09) were allowed to actually be present during the interview itself (there were a total 4 USC with their fiancees at the embassy that morning). I don't know if this is something new about the whole interview process in Kiev, but I remember reading here at VJ that the USC could attend it....Well, I tried "sneaking in" for the interview, since Nadiya was taking Yan with her, but the CO politely said "get yours and your son's happy butts our of here and back to the waiting room, I only need to talk to her". LOL LOL LOL ...I almost said AYE CAPTAIN. (just kidding). But Brad is right, they didn't care about the mountains of papers and pictures, and e-mails, and chat logs, and etc......

I think that must be a change. When we went to the interview I walked right up to the window with Vika, and the CO actually spoke more to me than her.

One never knows about these things. The latest report I had was that 2 0f the 4 USC there on the day of the interview were allowed in. Go figure. I know Brad did what I did. Just walked up to the window. But we really did not have an interview. The officer just handed back the originals and said "Your visa is approved".
