You should receive a NOA 1 around a week after you sent your papers. This extends the validity of your GC for another year so you can still work and travel.

2-3 weeks later you should receive your biometrics appointment. After you do the biometrics you will be able to track your status online (not always updated though).

Seeing that you filed with CSC if they do not ask you for any RFEs you should get approved in 2-3 months.

You will first receive a receipt - called an NOA - that will acknowledge receiving your application. This receipt will also include a very important statement - that it 'extends the validity of your greencard for both work and travel purposes'. This NOA is also known as the extension letter. You will need to carry the letter (make a copy for your files first) and your expiring/expired green card together because the letter means your green card is now good for another year. Together, the letter and your card are proof that you are legally in the US and allowed to work in the US, and if you travel, are allowed to return to the US. They will hold you over until you receive your actual 10 year card.

It is hard to say how long it will take to get your new card, but you filed at the California Service Center and that is the fastest service center. You should receive it in between 3 to 6 months. Good luck.

Hello,

When you send your I751 application along with the supporting documents. after a while you will receive a receipt that will extend your Green Card for an additional year. Then you will receive a biometrics letter, for you to go and do your finger prints. And it depends on your Region I 751 center, which I believe is California, you will receive either a letter for more evidence, an interview, or an approval.

One thing for sure California is way faster than Vermont, and they tend to approve in an average of 3 months.

Good luck
