HI VJ members

Our both applications got approved same day. And we are going to get interview date for K-3 which will be much earlier than CR1. If our NVC processing for I130 completes before k-3 interview date and approved I130 also reaches embassy. Is it possible that on our K-3 interview date they give CR1 visa. I read in some posts that it may hapen.

Has this hapened with anyone else. My consulate is delhi.

I130 after approval and NVC completion takes 2-3 months to get interview date..so it ll be really good thats possible. Knowing that we have aproved 130 at delhi consulate will they give CR1 visa on k-3 interviw dat.

If so how and when to inform/ask them about it. How to request for IR1 interview on k-3 date

Please help regading this with your suggestions.

Thankyou very much

If you keep the I-130 moving through NVC in a timely fassion, most consulates will drop the K-3 interview and do the CR-1 instead, if the I-130 makes it to the consulate before the interview.

Many simply get K-3 interview re-scheduled so that the I-130 can catch up.

CR-1 Is the better visa, it is WORK authorized, and DOES NOT need adjustment like K-3. This saves you $800.

If you have paid the NVC fees already ($70 and $400) Then consider NOT doing K-3, this will just be a big waste of $470 adding to the $1010 needed to adjust status from K-3.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Agreed it is possible, the trick with the consulates is to notify them once your I-130 has been completed by NVC and arrived at the embassy. Once at the embassy, they most likely will conduct the interview for the CR-1 over the K-3. A few folks have had luck doing this at the Mumbai consulate.
