K1 - when to move?

I've not started anything official yet, I'm just looking into things, but I have a question that I can't find the answer to anywhere. It would probably be explained to me on some of the paperwork once I start the process but I'd like to know now. (call me impatient! lol)

Basically, I'd like to know after the whole approval process, and assuming it all goes well and I get granted the K1 Visa etc... How long after that do I have to move? I know I have to marry in 90 of getting to the US (from the UK), but do I have to move as soon as I'm approved, or is there say, a 6 month period to sort out things back here (ie, quit job, sell house etc).

I ask because there's a chance I could be make redundant in the next year or so, and this could (nicely) coincide with me leaving. I'd not want to quit and move with nothing, and then find out if I'd waited a month or two the office was closing anyway, and I'd have been able to leave with a nice redundancy cheque in my pocket. As I'm sure you're all aware, this process can be costly and while money's not a big issue and wouldn't change anything, a few extra thousand to move and start a new life with with would be a big benefit.

I hope someone can help

Dave

From the day the K-1 visa is issued you have 180 days to enter the United States using that visa. You need to be married within 90 days of entering the USA. When you enter on the K-1, the K-1 will be cancelled and replaced by the I-94 card which has an expiration date also. You need to marry before that expiration date on the I-94

You're visa will expire in 6 months after the issuance. So, you still have months to settle everything in your place. Once you will arrive in U.S. you need to marry your fiancee and do your AOS before your 1-94 expires.

Some visas can be shorter:

The validity of your visa will be limited with the validity of your medical report. Medical reports classified as "Class B (TB)" are valid for 3 months from the date the doctor signed the report. All other medical reports classified as "No apparent decease or defect" are valid for 6 months after the doctor’s signature date.

But each visa will have the expiration date listed on them.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.
