Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here instead of in the K1 Processing Forums. Maria and I had a torturous ten months getting through USCIS Vermont, and then almost one and a half months in NVC, but now we have an interview date of June 10.

They recommended getting the medical done two weeks before interview if possible, so we plan to attempt that this coming Monday. My questions has to do with the Vacinnations. The K1 Package information states that the long list of Vaccinations is not technically required for Non Immigrant Visa; however, they seem to insinuate we should get it done anyway. There is a vague reference to it possibly affecting entry to the US. Maria is forty seven years old, so her records of childhood immunizations are no where to be found.

What have you experienced for the K1 Visa Interview. Will they give us a problem if she doesnt have records of all of the Vaccinations? Are vaccinations not really a big issue? If they still will give us a K1 Visa without her having proof of all of the Vaccinations, do they hold you up at point of entry to the US and then force her to have them?

The other question I have is her having a light cold right now. It is a simple garden variety cold with minor sneezing and occaisional runny nose. Nothing severe. Could this be a problem at the medical exam?

Thanks for your help.

Carl

This is something that is fairly consulate specific. Government guides suggest that K-1 applicants do not have to receive the required vaccinations to obtain a visa, but the consulate you are working under may have different guidelines and policies. For example, in Montreal they require all of the listed vaccinations in the applicable age group in order for the visa to be granted.

The medical examiner you are working with will, or should, be aware of and understand the policies of the consulate in your country. When I went for my K-1 medical, the doctor told me what shots I was missing and told me to get them and fax the office with prof of receiving them. It only delayed the results by a couple days. If your fiance cannot access her vaccination records, it may be a good idea to get a titer blood test done, which can show what she has been vaccinated for. Keep in mind that even if you are not required to have the vaccinations for the interview, your fiance will be required to receive them to adjust status, so getting them done now may make sense.

No problem as the panel physician at St. Lukes will determine what vaccinations she will have to have.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship
