Let's not focus on the past. Obama is our president. How is our pay doing under him? GM is going to file bankruptcy on Tuesday by the way (at latest this Thursday).

Oh ya, I forgot, anything good that happens under Obama is due to Obama's greatness. Anything bad is Bush's fault.

I think its more like Obama just bought GM with our money. Since when did you depend on the president for your pay increases?

I've noticed the increases at the pump and it sucks to get so used to paying $2 or less a gallon for so many months and to now pay $2.50 or up a gallon. But oil has skyrocketed since the late December/January $30 and $40 per barrel price range. Oil is now above $60 a barrel. It has been a sharp jump in the past 2 weeks which sucks but oil has been climbing for about 5 months now and we were lucky enough to not see the same climb over the same period at the pump. I annotated a pretty little chart, no offense to anybody, but gas can't stay under $2 a gallon while oil is priced in the $30s, then $40s, then $50s, and now $60s per barrel. It has to eventually come up with oil and now it has.

Here is my pretty 1-year 1-month chart of oil. This might bring back some memories of June to September prices. I think the highest I saw was $4.50 a gallon for regular unleaded here in Michigan which ended up costing me over $70 to fill up my Grand Prix back in those days...

I told you I wasn't being snotty. And I don't see what it has to do at all with my original statement.

You are the one who brought up what you make. I was talking about the price of fuel and when it started to go up.

There is a huge branch of the Federal government right here in our town - the Bureau of Public Debt. Entry level jobs earn around $30K. It doesn't take long (if you can get one of those jobs) to earn much more than that. These are cushy desk jobs where nobody breaks a sweat.

The government trough is the government trough, IMO. Some of the people feeding from it are layabouts and system abusers - some are in overpaid desk jobs.

The rest of us, in the meanwhile, are just trying to buy gasoline and food.
