Helloooooo,

I know one of the requirements for immigration (or at least AOS) is that you are up to date with all the listed vaccinations.

When I was a kid I had a severe allergic reaction to the Measles vaccination which left me with asthma (and the Measles!!). Since then I've been told I can't have any vaccinations that are suspended in egg products or grown in hens eggs (i.e. most of them including meningitis C). The only jab that's up to date is my tetanus.

What will immigration make of this? Is it going to be a problem? Will the embassy doctor have to agree that I can't have the immunisations or is my medical record sufficient?

Thank you!

Jess :)

i would imagine that you might get some slack if thatss the case, if you need that for AOS it means you will already be in the states, go to a doctor so they can examine you and see if you still suffer from that condition, doctors and medical treatment her might be better than the one in your country, if you still have the condition then have the doctor write you a letter explanening that.. im not speaking from experience so you might wana waite till someone that has more knowlede about this answers your question

You can be tested for Measles (Titer Test).

Moving this to AOS forum, K-1 hoders do not need vaccinations when filing I-129F, the need it at the tome of adjustment of status.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

You can have blood tests to show if you have immunity to certain deseases. If positive, then you don't need the vaccine. For vaccines you don't have immunity for, the doctor can exclude you from them if he believes there is a medical contradition.

I would not worry. If you can, have blood tests for MMR (and maybe Chicken Pox and others).

It looks like your vaccinations can be waived--

This is in the instructions to Panel Physicians:

The panel physician should identify any condition that might be a contraindication or precaution for the administration of a vaccine. A contraindication is a condition in a recipient which is likely to result in a life-threatening problem if the vaccine is given. A precaution is a condition in a recipient that might increase the chance of a serious adverse reaction if the vaccine is administered, or a condition that might compromise the ability of the vaccine to produce immunity.

General contraindications for the administration of a vaccine:

• Severe (anaphylactic) allergic reaction to a vaccine component or following a prior dose of a vaccine

(skipping down)

In general, vaccines are deferred when a precaution condition is present. If the decision to defer a vaccine is reached, the condition should be recorded as a medical condition on the DS-3025.

The wording is almost the same in the technical instructions to Civil Surgeons.

Also read this in general recommendations

Contraindications and precautions to vaccination dictate circumstances when vaccines will not be administered. The majority of contraindications and precautions are temporary, and the vaccination can be administered later. A contraindication is a condition in a recipient that increases the risk for a serious adverse reaction. A vaccine will not be administered when a contraindication is present. For example, administering influenza vaccine to a person with an anaphylactic allergy to egg protein could cause serious illness in or death of the recipient.

I would imagine they would want proof that you have allergic reactions. Does your medical record show you had severe allergic reactions? if they do you are definitely eligible for a waiver.

Wow, my experience can actually be of help to someone!! I had an allergic reaction to the tetanus vaccine when I was 5 so I cannot have this vaccine. I had my doctor write me a letter, which i took to the medical so the nurse could write on the vaccination list that i was allergic. Then I also sent in a copy of this letter with my medical at the appropriate time.

In the US, when I went to have my HPV vaccine and have the vaccination supplement rewritten for AOS, I showed them the letter and chatted with the doctor about whether or not I would be okay with the HPV vaccine, and they recommended that I don't have this either. They wrote me another letter based on the one from my doctor back in England. This I sent in with the medical forms.

It has been totally fine to have doctor letters, so I recommend this is what you do. Make sure you show these at your medicals.

Good luck, and message me if I can be of any further help :-)

Susan

I know my medical record shows allergic reactions. I have a peanut allergy too so my record shows my (numerous!!) hospitalisations for that. With regards to the vaccinations I'm assuming the records shows that but I'll have to get my doctor to trawl through it and have a look.

I have not completed my process yet. However, I thought I would share my experience so far.

I had what my doctor and neurologist said was an allergic reaction to the Hep B vaccination about 3 years ago. At that time I decided I was no longer going to receive any other vaccinations as it was just too risky. Most vaccinations have the same base ingredients and more often than not one of those base ingredients is what a person has a reaction to. When I found out that I had to have the HPV vaccination for AOS I was terrified and had no idea what to do. I had no letter from a doctor stating my allerigc reaction and I thought I was going to have to choose between the vaccination or just going back home. I contacted my neurologist who was going to wirte me a letter until he found out I "owed" him money then he refused to talk to me any longer I was so upset. I had no idea what to do and tme was running out so I decided to take a chance and made an appointment with a doctor here in Buffalo, took all of my neurologist reports to her and she had no issue in writing me a letter stating that I had expressed past reactions to a vaccination. (the day after my appointmen with her my neurologist contacted my step mum to inform her that I did not owe him money but he stll wouldn't write me a letter. At that point it didn't matter though.)

I took the short note from the one doctor to my appointment with the Civil Surgeon she read it once gave it back and wrote that I was allergic and could not receive the HPV vaccinations on my from bout 10 times. I have yet to send in my I-693 becuase of the drama with the HPV vaccine but I believe that since the Civil Surgeon has written down that I can't have it USCIS will accept that otherwise what in the world is the point of getting us to pay a fortune to see one?

All you will need is the documentaton showing your reaction and you will be fine. I am so relieved that I don't have to get the HPV vaccination not only because of the risk of another reaction or the possibility of my past reaction being worsened but because the HPV vaccination is just plain scary when you look into it.
