Im in canada Ontario, moving to the USA, where can I go to get my car checked to see if it meets american emission standards or whatever else it needs so I can bring it to america with me when I move?

We havent sent the K1 package yet but I am trying to organize everything that I will need so it is all ready. I will Likely be driving to the states not flying when the k1 stuff is all cleared, will I be able to bring most of my things on this trip and get things later? or do I have to wait till after marrying to bring everything down with me. I figure writing out a list of what boxs / bags are what will help the customs and inventory my stuff.

Also where in ontario can I get seen by an immigration medical examinor, not sure where to go or find this for when i need to make an apointment.

You need to get a letter of compliance from the manufacturer of your car in Canada - so like Ford etc.

You should be able to google their customer service phone number.

As soon as your visa is approved, you can start taking your stuff with you (ie not before, but yes on the day you cross the border with your visa and for 10 years after that you can import your personal items duty free) - yes, you should write a brief inventory - ie: tote number 1 - kitchen goods - no need to detail it.

Trailmix is correct, like always ;)

Generally, to get a letter of compliance from your car manufacturer (ie Ford) you can't have a loan with them for your car. You get your emissions tested when you go to register it with whatever state you are moving too.

The only medical examiner qualified to do the medical for immigration is in Ontario. You'll be having your interview in Montreal, there's one there too.

12/31/2009 - Marriage

07/21/2010 - AOS approved

08/04/2010 - Green Card received (and it's actually green!)

05/30/2012 - Sent ROC packet to VSC

06/08/2012 - Received NOA1 for ROC (Dated 06/04/2012)

You'll really have no choice if you want the visa. You will have enough notice as to when your interview at the consulate will be, so you should be able to adjust your schedule at work. I told my boss what I'm doing and when we got the approval in April, I said to her that I'll probably end up with an interview in June. ( it's on the 23rd, in Vancouver, B.C.) Ask those that went to Montreal how long between NOA2 and the interview.

Can't answer about the pets. I hope you can bring them. You should be able to find that info online though. Just google taking pets to the US?

there is a medical approved centre in downtown Toronto called Dr. Seiden and Assoc (not sure on spelling) the next closest one is Montreal. In Toronto you can go anytime you book it, in Montreal you can go same week as your interview, results are ready within 48 hours.

If you call head office for the maker of your car (ex. Toyota Canada) you can ask them for a compliance letter.

Not sure about the pets...

Good luck!
