Hello there,

I was a K-1 visa holder and got married on August 24, of 2009. I got approved to travel and went to Mexico recently with my hubby, but I was told by the flight crew that I needed a stamp in my passport with my new married name. How do I get this stamp. I have a Canadian passport, not and American one and don't want any delays for future flights. Does anyone know where i change my name. I live in PA, USA.

Any info. will help.

Thanks

Melissa

You need to book airline tickets using the mane that is in your passport "Maiden name" for international travel.

When we travel international we use passport names, when flying only domestic we just carry green-card and use the green-card name for airline tickets.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Book travel with your maiden name, same as your passport and carry a copy of your marriage certificate with you if your other form of ID such as DL is in your married name.

Whatever name is on your passport, that is the name you should use to book things, that's the name your stamp will be in. At my Montreal interview, my passport was still in my maiden name, the lady said "you do know your green card will be in your maiden name?" (in my head I'm thinking "Shoot! I should have just dealt with that!") but it's more just technicalities. I'll change it before my 10-yr card comes.

Good luck!

If you really do want to change your name in your passport you will have to apply for a new passport - there is no stamp or note for change of name in Canadian passports.
