Hello Fellow pinay here , I just finished my medical yesterday and thanks God I pass, but I suddenly feel sad and worry when I heard from one of the applicants there at St. Lukes that US embassy will not accept green passport anymore, my passport is green color which is the old one, but it will expire this coming March 2011 so I did not renew it since in embassy website it says at least 6 months before it expire, but i am worried now, my interview is so close ,and my passport is now at St.lukes...anybody here has same passport as mine, is it true that embassy will not accept green passport..please I need your help..thanks in advance

I found a statement of Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs Domingo Lucenario Jr. in a Philippine Daily Inquirer report "the two earlier passport versions would still be recognized in ports around the world until expiration,but just to be sure try to call DFA hotline at 556-0000 so dont listen to what people says...I hope this helps..

My passport will be expired at the end of the year so I need to renew it soon as I can. :star:

Hi,,

When I had my interview last March 25th, I see no problem with with my old green passport color!!As long as your passport don't expired the day of your interview or the day when you're ready to leave!!

It should be valid at least six months.

For passport renewal, you can call the DFA Information Center at 02-737-1000.

i think there's a requirement for machine readable passport in the US Embassy.

I'd hope you will change your passport here, cheaper than in the Phil Embassy, it will only take two weeks.

Ask if you can expedite.

It's better to replace it before you go. All renewals in the US now require that you make a personal appearance at the consulate with jurisdiction over your area. So, save yourself some money on travel expense and get the machine readable one in Philippines before you leave.

If you decide to stick with the green one, be prepared for extra scrutiny at the POE. My wife has insisted on not renewing her passport until it expires and she's had nothing but trouble traveling with it.

hi.... i've just arrived here in the US last April and my passport is still the green one. it is going to expire by 2012. so i think your passport is still ok. unless the news you heard about came after March this year.

As long that it has been accepted by SLEC.. no need to worry.. your passport is still valid.. as you and the internet stated passport should atleast be 6 mos before it expire..

They probably return her passport cause it's less than 6 mos.
