It's not culturally or legally acceptable in USA and I think most people here would think it is strange. My husband is from Egypt and they do it all the time there and think it is perfectly normal.

It's not prohibited to marry a cousin in my country, but we still never heard of cousin marriages.

It is weird and genetically weakening :(

I second the notion. it's just wrong, weakens the gene pool.

Cousin marriage is legal in India and is well practiced in some communities. But its not something I would go for, and plus the community I belong to it is strictly prohibited, we can't even marry someone if say both of them carry the same "surname" even if you aren't related, just because your surnames are the same you become the part of family branch and you can't marry someone within the family.

26 states allow first cousin marriages; most people can marry their cousin in the US.

My cousin married her now husband 10 years ago and they both had the same surname. We still tease her for that. It is believed that people with same surnames had common ancestors.

Depends if the cousin is a virgin.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

It's legal in the UK but it's not common & I think it's too freaky especially if they've grown up together. That would be a brotherly/sisterly type relationship.

Also their children might be born with webbed feet or 12 fingers! :jest:

One time I was at my Grandma's house, and saw a new picture of two hot blond twins, about 16-17, (I was 15 at the time), and said, "WoW!, who's the hotties Grandma?"

"Those are your first cousins you never met Bobby...."

dammit. :ranting:
