Hi there everyone in the exciting Visa world

My fiancee and I are currently waiting for our approval of the I-129F and I'm preparing for packet 3.

My question is, will I need a criminal record statement from abroad.

See, I immigrated to the USA a few years ago, I am English and I lived over there for two years legally and another 6 months or so without a green card.

I am wondering if I will need a criminal record statement from where I stayed for the first two years and then another one from the different state I lived in for the remainder?....

That sounds more complex than it should, but is anyone out there be able to help??

I will be so grateful for some light on this situation..

Thanks!!

You are confusing me here, are you a US Citizen, or LPR?? Only US Citizens can file an I-129F for a foreign fiancee.

Police certs from the USA are not required per DOS, and the US Consulate, this is handled by name checks.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Ok sorry lol, just to clear things up here, I am a citizen of the UK, my fiancee is a US citizen and she filed the I-129F.

By the sounds of things, I just need a police background check from the UK, am I correct??

US consulate will do the police checks for the US and the country you are residing in. You may have to sign some kind of authorization form with packet 3 to allow them to get the UK records.

Does the consulate do this for people in UK? In Ukraine we needed police certificates from Ukraine for my Ukrainian wife and son (over age 16) It is my understanding you need one for every country you resided in (except USA) for 6 months or more after age 16, including your home country. I know it is also necessary in Russia as my wife has translated several of those for Russian fiancees
