If you got a daddy issue... here's a daddy tissue... D to the A to the D D Y!

I am surprised no one else made an Austin Powers reference. BOO TO ALL OF YA!

Oh darn! It was staring me in the face all along. I should have gotten that.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

I remember Ethan used to sing that song and it was so funny because his daddy didn't care.

Wait.. thats kind of sad.

But it was funny.

Meh. Forget it.

This is an entertaining thread! So, I call my dad "Da" and when talking to other people I use "Dad". But I have a friend who is is always saying, "I love my daddy!" Its weird, but they are so cute together. She gets a pass..with a side glance.

E- you know I didn't make this thread to offend you in any way, right? I'm sorry that it makes you sad. I know you lost your dad young and it's really such a shame. I can't imagine what it's like :(

As always when Len is in a thread...I'm giggling!

I just lost my father in April 2009...most of my life I called him "popi" or "daddy" till high school. Then after it was Dad or Pop or Opa (when my twins were born). When he was diagnosed w/ cancer the beginning of this year and while I was taking care of him at home not a day passed that I didn't call him Daddy. I just think its a term of affection and I wanted him to know how dear he was to me. He will always be my DADDY. :luv:

(F) Sorry to hear about your loss Nawal. Cancer is an awful disease. He is resting in a better place and watching with pride as his grandchildren grow.

Grown up people in Wales often refer to their as parents daddy/mammy so I don't find it very weird...my daughter still calls me "mummy" and she is 19  apart from when I embarrass her..then it is "mother" followed by "omg"

Now, I've found it quite common here for adult women to refer to their dad as "daddy". It strikes me as very peculiar for many reasons. One being that it seems a childish thing to say and also because in our world today, it also has a sexual connotation.

Any way, my boss refers to her husband to her kids as daddy. Do any of you think this is all weird?

My dad is called as follows:

DAD or DA (Scottish thing)

I don't know if it makes a difference, but my mother is French and she always referred to my father to us kids as "daddy", but she called him by his first name when talking directly to him. Today I call him "Dad", but my sister still calls him "daddy" and she's 50. :-P I think it's whatever the family is comfortable with. I was a bit miffed when my daughter started calling me "Mother" out of the blue when I used to be "Mom". LOL

My parents get mom and dad and when my mother is turned the other way or not paying attention she gets mother!!

My kids still call me Mommy and they are 12 14 16 18 I dont think they ever called me mom, as for their father it was daddy also but they havent spoken to him for awhile. Now for their step father he just gets his first name which is fine with everyone, once in awhile he gets daddy from the younger 2.

oh ya my parents would often refer to each other as mother and father but it tends to be when they are talking to us when we were kids and it just stuck.

My guess is she calls him daddy to the kids b/c that's what they call him. When I was little, it was mommy and daddy. Now, it's just mom and dad. That's just my guess.
